VISION Mercedes-Maybach 6 makes its way to India

While being a 2016 concept, it doesn’t look out of place compared to the concepts of today

Remember when Mercedes-Benz revealed a gorgeous concept called the VISION Mercedes-Maybach 6 abroad back in 2016? Well, it has been showcased in India for the first time. What’s more, despite its age, this concept could arguably stand out amongst other modern concepts without breaking a sweat.

What immediately stands out is the long, streamlined design inspired by the Talbot-Lagos and pre-war Bugattis of the 1930s. We’re not kidding when we say this concept is long as it spans nearly six metres in length! The chrome detail on the body panel too is unique and spans almost the entire length of the car.

Elsewhere, the exaggerated bonnet, the swooping aerodynamic body lines and the boat-tail rear end are what gives it a futuristic yet classic look at the same time. The bonnet houses space for storing luggage while what looks like the boot lid is actually a storage to house your champagne bottles in true Maybach fashion. The 24-inch wheels are transparent, matching the body shade and they’re aerodynamically functional too. While we didn’t get a proper look inside, we know from the global unveil that it exudes opulence with a wraparound dashboard and enough space to seat up to four people.

This concept puts out 750PS via the combination of four electric motors, with an 80kWh battery pack giving it juice. This is enough for a 0-100kmph sprint in under four seconds and an NEDC-claimed range of up to 500km on a single charge.

Sure, the VISION Mercedes-Maybach 6 isn’t going into production, but looking at modern Mercedes models of today, that sleek futuristic design trend from the concept has been retained. Nevertheless, it would be perfect timing for the carmaker to get this concept production-ready especially with their rapid EV expansion.
