Toyota has launched the ninth-generation Hilux with prices starting from ₹31.99 lakh ex-showroom. It gets an updated design inside and out with added features, and for the first time in India, it is now offered with RWD. It continues on the same body-on-frame IMV platform.
The front gets a new bumper with piano-black accents, new LED headlamps with LED DRLs, and a new honeycomb grille with Toyota lettering above it. At the sides, it gets black 17-inch alloy wheels, compared to the silver-finished 18-inchers on the outgoing model. The rear gets vertical headlamps with C-Shaped light signatures, Toyota lettering across the tailgate, which now has a damped release, and a redesigned bumper.
Inside, the updates continue with a new dashboard design, a new gear selector, and a new three-spoke steering wheel. It gets a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a 7-inch digital driver’s display. Controls for the HVAC are also updated. In the features department, it gets an 8-speaker audio system, wireless charging tray, 360° parking camera, three drive modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), and connected car tech. Off-road-specific features like high and low range modes, electronic differential lock, and downhill assist continue to be on offer.
Powering the new Hilux is the same 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 204PS and 500Nm, mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox; no manual transmission on offer. It now gets an RWD option alongside the four-wheel drive (4X4).
Prices for the new Toyota Hilux start from ₹31.99 lakh ex-showroom and go all the way up to ₹36.69 lakh ex-showroom. Compared to the outgoing model, which is priced between ₹28.52 lakh and ₹36 lakh ex-showroom, the starting price has gone up by ₹3.47 lakh.
