It’s the 20th anniversary of Nissan’s European design centre in London and the carmaker is celebrating the occasion with the 20-23 Concept. This may seem like a simple three-door hatchback, but it has a motorsport-inspired personality that gives it a radical look.
Before we get to the design, here’s a fun fact about the name, as the 20 reflects the 20th anniversary of their European design centre in London and the 23 signifies the company’s traditional number 2 (ni) 3 (san) as well as the current year.
Getting into the radical look, it is helped by the fact that it features a plethora of vents, flared wheel arches, aggressive bumpers, futuristic wheels and a rear wing. Inside, the radical nature continues with a minimalist cabin that has a focus on performance thanks to bucket seats, and an aeroplane-style yoke steering wheel. There’s also two screens displaying vital information but they’re difficult to locate in the cabin. Aside from it being powered by an electric motor, technical details are scarce but we could expect some of its tech to show up in future Nissan EVs.
Sure, this a concept, but it is a cool showcase of what a future all-electric hatchback with performance in focus from Nissan could look like if the carmaker had a free rein on it.
