Kia has launched the Sorento in India with prices starting from ₹28 lakh (ex-showroom). This three-row SUV is locally manufactured at Kia’s Anantapur facility and comes with hybrid or diesel engines.
At the front, the Sorento wears Kia’s tiger-nose grille with a honeycomb mesh and chrome surround. Vertically stacked LED headlights with Y-shaped DRLs, wide air inlets, and dual fog lamps define the face. At the sides, the profile is upright with 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, thin black cladding along the lower edges, roof rails, and chrome trim on the fenders and window surrounds. At the rear, L-shaped wraparound LED taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler, dual exhaust tips, and a faux silver skid plate round things off.
Eight exterior colours available: Gravity Gray, Glacier White Pearl, Imperial Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Pearl Olive, Dark Gun Metal, Ivory Silver, and Magma Red.
Inside, it gets dual 12.3-inch screens – one for the instrument cluster, one for infotainment. The UI can be personalised with nine themes from Marvel, Pixar, and Disney. It also gets automatic climate controls that are touch-enabled below the infotainment screen.
The Sorento offers both 6-seater (with captain’s chairs) and 7-seater (bench middle row) configurations. Front seats are ventilated with 10-way power adjustment and lumbar support. The middle row in the 6-seater gets ventilation too. Other features include a 12-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, powered tailgate, wireless phone charger, real-time generative AI, rotary drive selector dial. On the safety front, it gets ten airbags, a digital inside rearview mirror, auto parking assist, front and rear dashcams, and Level 2+ ADAS.
The Sorento gets two powertrain options: a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 180PS and 265Nm, plus 65PS and 264Nm from the electric motor. It comes with FWD or AWD, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel produces 193PS and 442Nm, sent through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. It also features four drive modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, and Smart drive modes, plus three terrain modes for AWD variants: Snow, Mud, and Sand.
Prices start at ₹28 lakh for the base diesel, six-seater. The range climbs to Rs 40.39 lakh for the top-spec hybrid AWD. It competes against the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, MG Majestor, and Jeep Meridian. The hybrid with standard AWD is a differentiator in this segment.
