Maruti Suzuki Victoris Unveiled, Prices to be Revealed Soon

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the marque’s challenger for the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is here, and whether it will be victorious or not depends a lot on the price, which is yet to be revealed. However, the rest of the stuff seems on point. Interestingly, for such a high-end product, it will be sold only through the Arena range of dealerships, making it a flagship product for those.

While a lot depends on the pricing, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris looks handsome. Based on the same platform that underpins the Grand Vitara, the Victoris will borrow the same powertrain options, which means on the higher trims you can get a strong-hybrid powertrain as well as one with all wheel drive, options that are noticeably absent from the competition. It is 15mm longer and 10mm taller, and has identical width and wheelbase when compared to the Grand Vitara.

It is in the area of features in which Maruti Suzuki has decided to load up the Victoris with all the bells and whistles of the competition, and even stuff that is found in a segment or two above. The Victoris comes with an 8-speaker ‘Infinity6 by Harman’ sound system integrated with Dolby Atmos 5.1 Surround Sound. There’s a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets in-built apps from the App Store along with OTA updates and Alexa Auto Voice AI with 35+ features. There’s also a smart powered tailgate with gesture control and 64-colour customisable ambient lighting.

The engine is the familiar K-Series 1.5-litre motor that is found in the Grand Vitara too, pumping out the same 103.06PS and 139Nm, while the hybrid variant packs 92.45PS and 122Nm from the engine, and the total system power is rated at 115.56PS. The presence of all-wheel drive sets it apart from the competition somewhat more, as those cars offer neither a strong-hybrid powertrain nor an all-wheel-drive option. Furthermore, there’s an S-CNG variant right from the launch featuring an underbody fuel tank design to maximise boot space.

The Victoris is also the first-ever Maruti Suzuki to score 5 stars in BNCAP, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, as it has Level 2 ADAS and six airbags as standard. Some of the safety features are automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control (with curve speed reduction), lane keep assist, high beam assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring with lane departure warning, among others.

Overall, Maruti Suzuki seems to have done its research and created another winner, and if you’re intrigued by it, then wait for our review, coming soon!
