The Svartpilen 401 has been launched for 2024 at Rs Rs 2.92 lakh ex-showroom. This is also the first 401 to be officially sold in India.
The Svartpilen 401 is a scrambler and has a few important points of distinction from its sibling, the Vitpilen 250. The bike sports a darker colour tone on the 13.5-litre fuel tank, runs on wire-spoked wheels clad in knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres and gets a little wind deflector in front of the 5-inch TFT screen in the front.
Because the Svartpilen and the Vitpilen share the same platform, it also gets an increase in ground clearance at 177mm from the previous 152mm, while getting a lowered rider seat height at 820mm as opposed to the previous 842mm. The bike has features like optional Bluetooth connectivity, a USB Type-C charging port and traction control, ride-by-wire, quickshifter and supermoto ABS.
The Svartpilen 401 gets a 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 46PS @ 9,000rpm and 39Nm @ 7,000rpm. It is housed in a new steel trellis frame. The bike is suspended by adjustable WP Apex USD forks in the front and an offset-mounted WP Apex rear monoshock with preload adjustability. Braking duties are handled by ByBre disc brakes, with a 320mm disc in the front and a 240mm disc in the rear. The bike has a kerb weight of 171.2kg.
In terms of competition, the Svartpilen 401 goes up against the likes of the, BMW G 310 GS, Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Triumph Scrambler 400X.
