The first couple of units have made their way to Kerela and Tamil Nadu

Earlier this month, Volvo launched its second electric vehicle, the C40 Recharge in India and now deliveries of the electric SUV have commenced. The first two units have been delivered in Kerela and Tamil Nadu. It retails at a price tag of Rs 61.25 lakh, ex-showroom.

Based on the same CMA platform of the XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge unsurprisingly shares a lot in common with the XC40 Recharge including the similar clean face, Thor’s hammer LED DRLs and sharp-looking LED headlamps. The main difference is the sloping roofline as well as the horizontal fog lamp housing.

Features include the likes of a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android OS and in-built Google Maps and Google Assistant. There’s also a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof and ADAS suite of advanced safety assists on offer.

Powering the C40 Recharge is a 408PS/660Nm dual-motor AWD electric powertrain, juiced by a 78kWh battery pack. This is enough for a 0-100kmph sprint in 4.7 seconds and a WLTP-claimed range of 530km on a full charge. A fast charger allows a 10-80 percent charge in 27 minutes.

Bookings for the Volvo C40 Recharge are only available online through the company website. It is an alternative to the Kia EV6 in India.
