The biggest electric Mini till date. So is bigger better?

The Mini Countryman is now in its third iteration and has gone electric. The Countryman electric is available in the E variant at a price of ₹54.90 lakh(ex-showroom) in India. Let us have a look at what makes the Countryman electric standout from its rivals.

The new Countryman Electric gets a significantly updated look compared to its predecessor. It now sports completely redesigned headlamps with a new shape, highlighted by DRLs. The larger, octagonal grille is finished in black and incorporates the charging port. The Countryman no longer features the fake fender vents seen on the previous model, and the door handles have been updated to sleek, flush units. The wheel arches are prominently flared, and the roofline gradually slopes towards the rear. At the back, the design is updated with newly styled LED taillights and a robust bumper.

Step into the Countryman electric and you are greeted by a round 9.5-inch display which now stands as a freestanding unit unlike the previous model. Mini has gone down the route of havin a minimalistic interior which is complemented by a lack of conventional instrument cluster and far fewer physical buttons as all the information is displayed on the central round display. There are also new air-con vents with vertical slats.

The Countryman Electric gets a 66.5kWh battery which powers a single motor and makes 201PS and 250Nm of torque. Mini claims that the Countryman Electric will deliver a range of 462km on a full charge.

The Countryman Electric competes against the likes of Hyundai Ioniq5, Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge and the BYD Seal. Does the Mini have what it takes to topple the competition? Only time will tell.
