Suzuki has unveiled two new motorcycles at the EICMA 2023 show, the GSX-8R and the GSX-S100GX. The GSX-8R is powered by a 776cc parallel-twin engine, cradled in the trellis frame derived from the GSX-8S, the naked twin of the 8R. The 8R also produces the same power figures as the 8S at 83PS and 78Nm. The 6-speed transmission along with a Bi-directional quickshifter put the power to the rear wheel.
The 8R is more focused on track racing, and therefore gets fairing and also forged aluminium clip-on handles instead of the single piece handlebar of the 8S. While the 8R sports the same footpeg placement as the 8S, It gets Showa SFF-BP suspension, as against the 8S’s KYB setup. The 8R has a 5.0-inch TFT dash, and has three riding modes- A (Active), B (Basic) and C (Comfort). The 8R will go up against the Honda CBR650R, Yamaha R7, and the Aprilia RS660.
Suzuki has also showcased the GSX-S1000GX, the litre class touring motorcycle. The bike gets the 999cc engine from the GSX-S1000GT and is capable of producing 150PS of power. The bike’s powertrain is held in a chassis made out of twin-spar aluminum and has a braced aluminum swingarm to hold the rear wheel.
The motorcycle also has the Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES), which automatically adjusts the Showa suspension settings while the bike is riding. The GX also has an auto mode on the rear suspension, which will adjust the pre-load settings, depending on the weight loaded on the bike. The bike has a 6.5-inch TFT display, and also has three riding modes as the GSX-8R, which are- A (Active), B (Basic) and C (Comfort). Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 radial tyres wrap the 17 inch wheels, front and rear. The GSX-S1000GX is rivalled by the likes of BMW S1000XR, the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and others.
