There has been no shortage of Porsche Cayennes packing a fair bit of muscle in the powertrain department over the years. This is especially the case in its third iteration and now we have the most powerful one yet in the form of the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Offered in SUV and Coupé body style, as the name suggests, it’s a hybrid formula that helps this Cayenne hold the prestigious title of being the most powerful one of the nameplate.
The hybrid formula comprises a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired to a 176PS electric motor. This is enough to make a beefy combination of 739PS and 950Nm which helps propel the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid from 0-100kmph in 3.7 seconds. Top speed is rated at 295kmph.
There’s more to this Cayenne than just hybrid propulsion as it gets an adaptive air suspension as standard, and also features torque vectoring, dynamic chassis control and rear axle steering to aid its driving dynamics. Of course being a hybrid, it allows up to 82km of electric-only driving thanks to a 25.9kWh battery pack.
As far as looks go, it looks largely the same as the other variants of the facelifted Cayenne. But it does stand out with a bigger front grille and quad exhaust pipes. Inside, like the other variants, there’s three digital screens with the passenger display being an optional extra.
In India, Porsche retails the Cayenne at Rs 1.36 crore, ex-showroom and the Cayenne Coupé at Rs 1.42 crore, ex-showroom. While we are yet to know when the most powerful variant will show up, we can expect a launch after the other variants that are offered globally also make it to the country.
