Yamaha Motor India has announced a special pricing of the R15 series as a part of their 70th anniversary celebrations. The Japanese bike maker is now offering ₹5,000 discount on the R15 series, which is effective from January 5, 2025, effectively bringing the starting price to ₹1.51 lakh for the R15 S, ₹1.66 lakh for the R15 V4 and ₹1.81 lakh for the R15 M variant (all prices are ex-showroom).

Since its introduction in 2008, the Yamaha YZF-R15 series has been a very popular and affordable option for motorcycle enthusiasts, especially with the design cues taking inspiration from the bigger R1 and performance numbers which put other 150cc segment motorcycles to shame. Yamaha had also given the engine a mid-life update with tech like VVA (variable valve actuation). Yamaha has reportedly produced over one million units of the R15 in India.

The R15 series is powered by the 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 18.4PS and 14.2Nm (the same engine does duties on the MT-15, XSR155 and the Aerox scooter). The 6-speed gearbox is aided by a slip-and-assist clutch. The motorcycle also features upside down forks, slip-and-assist clutch, traction control and quickshifter in select variants. Additionally, Yamaha had also been selling the R3 and the MT-03 which the brand recently discontinued hinting at an updated version of the motorcycle which could be launched in the country.
