So, what makes the Toyota Rumion different from the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga? For starters, the exterior gets a few tweaks which include a new front grille, similar to the Innova Hycross. Head over to the sides and you get a different set of 15-inch alloy wheels and at the rear, the Rumion has a chrome strip that connects the LED tail lamps.
Inside, things are largely the same aside from a brown/beige dual-tone upholstery in the Rumion instead of all-beige in its Maruti counterpart. As far as features go, the Rumion comes with a seven-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start/stop, cruise control, a four-speaker sound system with two tweeters and roof-mounted AC vents for the second row. Safety kit comprises four airbags, a reverse parking camera, ESP and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Under the hood, it is limited to the 103PS 1.5-litre K-series engine which makes 88PS in CNG mode for the S-CNG variant. A five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission is on offer, but the CNG variant is limited to the manual option.
With this launch, those who want a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga alternative now have the choice of the Toyota Rumion, albeit being priced at a slight premium. Its rivals will include the Kia Carens and the Mahindra Marazzo aside from its Maruti Suzuki counterpart.
