Yamaha has introduced the new look of their naked street fighter motorcycle, the MT-09 on November 1st. The new bike will be showcased at the EICMA 2023. Yamaha says the development of the new MT-09 has been based on their ‘The Knight Horse’ concept.
The manufacturer has not declared any changes in performance figures of the familiar CP3 engine, but has modified the chassis for improved rigidity. The subframes have received similar treatment. This should make the motorcycle more agile than before, according to Yamaha.
Yamaha has also adopted new Bridgestone Battlax S23 tyres and also have changed the spring rates and damping characteristics of the front and rear suspensions. They have changed the riding position as well, while redesigning the fuel tank, lights and turn indicators.
Cruise control and Yamaha’s YRC (Yamaha Ride Control) are also added to the bike. The information console has been changed to a TFT screen measuring 5.0 inches, and USB Type-C charging ports have been added as well.
Yamaha India has been slow to reintroduce the big bikes to our market since the BS6 emission norms came to pass, but the R3 and the MT-03 are just around the corner, with strong possibility of the 700cc and 900cc models making it to our shores as well, probably next year.
