The past few months have had us in awe of the Tata Curvv, for a lot of reasons. Amongst them, I think the stellar fuel efficiency offered by its 1.5-litre diesel engine is one of our favourites. The car has returned above 15kmpl consistently and that’s one reason most of the team has eyed its keys every time I’ve been traveling. Heck, over the past few weeks, whether travelling or not, I’ve not had a chance to drive the Curvv because someone else had taken it!

Its music system is yet another feature that we’ve all really liked, given the brilliant acoustics. In fact, Tata Motors seems to have made a habit of offering excellent audio systems in its cars as we have seen for a long time now, and the Curvv continues that trend courtesy its JBL-sourced music system which comes equipped with as many as 9 speakers along with the ‘JBL Cinematic Sound System’ that lets you tailor the sound to suit your liking. In fact, the Curvv’s music system is good enough to give units in luxury cars a run for their money!

Then there’s the plush ride quality the Curvv offers, along with the kind of confident and sporty handling it boasts. Mind you, this is a combination that’s not easy to get but Tata Motors seem to have aced it with the Curvv. I say so, because I’ve driven the very Curvv on these pages across some really bad roads. Pune’s rain-battered roads are a great place to test a car’s suspension and the Curvv has never let me down, by soaking up the worst of ruts and potholes always.

This, while delighting around corners, courtesy the weighted feel and feedback from the steering, and also the well-tuned suspension. On another note, I’m not too fond of the drive-by-wire gear lever, as it doesn’t feel very tactile. I also felt the seat cooling switches could have been placed better, but yes, seat cooling works well! A set of cup holders would have been nice too. And maybe, some more space in the second row. But overall, the Curvv diesel is a car we are going to miss!
