Delhi, June 30, 2025 — Royal Enfield’s annual journey into the Himalayas — the Himalayan Odyssey — set off today from Chandigarh, marking the 21st edition of what has become one of the world’s most iconic motorcycling expeditions. Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey has stood as an icon of adventure and camaraderie for over two decades, taking adventure seekers through the soul-stirring landscapes of upper Himalayas on a journey that’s as much about discovery as it is about grit.

Continuing the Himalayan Odyssey tradition, participants were blessed by Buddhist lamas in a vibrant traditional Ladakhi ceremony before the flag-off. A total of 77 riders embarked on this epic journey that will cover more than 2,600 kilometres across Spiti, Zanskar and Ladakh over the next 18 days. The 2025 contingent consists of riders from India and other countries including Argentina, the US, Brazil, Germany, South Korea and more. While most riders in the contingent are first-timers, some have come back to experience the unforgettable journey yet again after 10 years drawn by a route that promises both physical challenge and the solitude of scale.

The ride comprises two groups — Team Spiti and Team Zanskar —  each following a distinct loop across Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Spiti and Zanskar. One team sets off via Narkanda, Kalpa and Kaza, riding through Keylong, and the stargazing haven of Sarchu en route to Leh, then onward to Hanle and Umling La before returning by way of Padum, Jispa and Manali. The other travels in the opposite direction, departing through Manali, Jispa and Padum, continuing to Leh and Umling La via Hanle, and completing the loop through Sarchu, Kaza, Kalpa and Narkanda. Both the ride routes will conclude on July 15, 2025 in Chandigarh, after completing a wide circuit that includes both smooth highways and some of the world’s most remote and difficult roads, including Umling La, currently the highest motorable pass in the world.

While 2025 Himalayan Odyssey will include breathtaking views and incredible experiences, it remains steadfast in contributing to Royal Enfield’s #LeaveEveryPlaceBetter initiative. Riders will strive to promote and emphasise on sustainable and responsible practices on this motorcycle journey through various efforts that reduce plastic waste footprint in the Himalayan region.
