The ACMA Mobility Foundation held its first Cluster Conference on 16 July in Pune, marking 25 years of the ACMA Cluster Movement. The event brought together policymakers, OEMs and component manufacturers to discuss building resilient, globally competitive supply chains through collaboration and continuous improvement.
Pune’s selection as host reflects the city’s standing in India’s automotive manufacturing landscape, home to over 4,000 automotive and ancillary units and often referred to as India’s “Detroit of the East.”
ACMA President-Designate Sriram Viji, Managing Director of Brakes India Pvt Ltd, said closer collaboration between industry, government and technology institutions would be key to building world-class supply chains, particularly for MSMEs.
The conference featured a keynote from Vinamra Mishra, Joint Secretary (Administration & Technology) at the Ministry of MSME, who said the ministry was strengthening its ZED and Lean programmes with enhanced incentives for technology upgradation, quality certification and market access. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring procurement and strategy leaders from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, VE Commercial Vehicles, JSW Motors, TVS Motor Company and Cummins India.
As part of the silver jubilee celebrations, ACMA released a commemorative film on the Cluster Movement’s 25-year journey, a special edition of its IMPACT publication, and recognised its Cluster Star Performer Companies.
ACMA Director General Vinnie Mehta said the industry’s FY26 performance reflected continued domestic demand and investment in technology, positioning India as a trusted manufacturing partner as global supply chains evolve.
