Maruti Suzuki has launched AMT versions of the CNG-powered Swift, Dzire and Baleno. This is the first time the carmaker is offering an automatic gearbox with a factory-fitted CNG powertrain.
No changes on the design front except for the AMT shifter inside. All three cars use the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E engine, now paired with a 5-speed AMT. In CNG mode, it produces 70PS and 102Nm. The company claims fuel efficiency of 35.34km/kg for the Swift, 36.47km/kg for the Dzire and 34.47km/kg for the Baleno. The Swift’s figure is 2.49km/kg higher than its manual CNG version, while the Baleno’s is 0.86km/kg higher. The 55-litre CNG cylinder sits in the boot, and all three continue to get a spare wheel.
The Swift CNG AMT is priced at ₹7.92 lakh, the Baleno at ₹8.32 lakh and the Dzire at ₹8.53 lakh, all ex-showroom. The Swift and Dzire cost ₹35,000 more than their CNG manual versions.
