Aston Martin to make Le Mans return in 2025

Its track weapon will be the Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar

When Aston Martin announced the Valkyrie AMR Pro back in early 2019, the track-focused hypercar generated quite the hype as the carmaker was aiming to get it to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans by 2021. Unfortunately, the project was shelved not long after. However, it’s gotten a revival of sorts as the carmaker will be returning to top-class sports car racing in 2025 with this hypercar.

Aston Martin already has an illustrious history with Le Mans with the carmaker taking the overall top honours in 1959. This will be their first attempt at overall Le Mans glory since 2011 when they ran with the AMR-One LMP1.

Heart of Racing will spearhead Aston Martin’s campaign with at least one entry in the Hypercar and the GTP classes of the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the IMSA SportsCar Championship. While the road-legal Valkyrie is a hybrid, its racing counterpart will be a pure-ICE track monster, running a modified version of the Cosworth-built 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine.

While the 2025 season is still some ways away, expect details on their driver line up to emerge in due time.
