What is it?

Finding time to stay in shape in the hectic days of an automotive journalist has been tough, so I chose to integrate fitness into my daily commute by opting for the EMotorad EMX e-cycle as my mode of transport. The 10km journey to office in the morning is manageable, but cycling back home after a taxing day feels rather demanding, and this is where the EMX with its 36V 250W hub motor at the rear, paired with a 36V 10.4 Ah LiIon removable battery comes in handy. With its 21-speed drivetrain from Shimano, I can seamlessly merge pedalling with motor assistance, effortlessly achieving speeds of 35 to 40kmph. I can rely solely on electric power for the journey home as it boasts a claimed range of 35km on electric power alone with a top speed of 25kmph, and recharging it from 0 to 80 percent capacity takes about three hours. The dual suspension on the EMX offers a comfortable ride. It gets an LCD that shows the speed, pedal assist level, and charge indicator. On the weekends, the EMX can be used to explore the trails on the city outskirts, thanks to its adjustable suspensions. The brakes perform adequately, though a bit more stopping power would bolster my confidence when going downhill.

While the EMotorad EMX misses out on rear-view mirrors, a tail lamp or rear reflectors, it is a commendable balance between being a daily commuter and a weekend MTB, helping me get back into shape
