Audi has been working on introducing its newest electric offering, the Q6 for quite some time with the carmaker revealing exterior shots of the prototype in July. Now, the carmaker has finally taken the wraps off the cabin and it’s an all-new philosophy that will make its way to future Audi models.
The most visually appealing aspect of the new cabin is the large and wide panoramic digital screen that comprises the 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit display and the 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is a more straightforward layout compared to the separate screens present on current Audi models. Accompanying this is a standalone digital screen for the passenger.
You’ll notice on current Audi’s that the HVAC controls are handled by a digital screen laid out around the centre console area. Now, with the new panoramic screen also handling climate controls, the old HVAC screen is gone, which has freed up a lot of space around the centre console.
Other changes include a new steering wheel that features the latest 2D Audi logo which is complemented by touch-sensitive controls. Rounding off the cabin design is the gear selector, which is now a toggle switch setup.
We know from exterior images that the Q6 e-tron has a smooth and curvaceous silhouette but with an aggressive face. Other highlights include sleek LED headlights with Matrix tech and the second generation of Audi’s OLED tail lamp technology.
Audi has yet to spill the beans on the Q6 e-tron’s detailed specifications, but we do know that it will be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture which means an 800-volt system that allows charging speeds of up to 270kW. This translates to a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
With this much revealed on the Audi Q6 e-tron, expect a full reveal soon. There’s no word yet on an India launch, but since we already have the Q8 e-tron here means we could expect a 2024 launch.
