The mid-range powerhouse

At first glance, the Nord 4 appears to belong to a higher premium class. Its all-metal unibody design with a reflective glass rear section gives it a sophisticated appearance reminiscent of the OnePlus 3-3T. It sports a 6.74-inch Super Fluid AMOLED display with a pixel density of 450 ppi. Its 120Hz refresh rate ensures fluid animations and smooth scrolling, while a peak brightness of 2,150 nits guarantees visibility even in bright sunlight. The Pro XDR technology, which enhances brightness and clarity, is a carryover from the flagship OnePlus 12 series, optimising image and video display based on viewing conditions.

Out of the box, the Nord 4 runs on Oxygen OS 14.1 with four years of software updates plus two years of security patches. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 chipset paired with an Adreno 732 GPU. The review unit came with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. OnePlus’s RAM-Vita technology, part of its Trinity Engine, uses AI to optimise memory management, allowing apps to stay open for up to 72 hours, enhancing multitasking. AI features are a key highlight and include intelligent tools that condense emails into key points, summarise lengthy meeting recordings, and translate text between languages. The AI Linkboost feature accelerates network reconnection after leaving no network areas, showcasing the phone’s smart capabilities.
The camera setup includes a 50 MP main camera with a Sony LYT-600 sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 16 MP front camera. The main camera captures detailed images with excellent colour reproduction, and the ultra-wide lens is effective for landscape photography. The low-light performance is impressive for its category. The front camera features an AI groupfie function that adjusts subjects’ eyes after capture, enhancing selfies.

The Nord 4 is equipped with a robust 5500 mAh battery that comfortably lasts through a full day of heavy usage. Notably, it comes with a 100W SUPERVOOC fast charger in the box, capable of fully charging the phone in just 30 minutes. The OnePlus Nord 4 is a compelling choice for those seeking a high-quality smartphone at a competitive price.
