Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 S-Class, and it’s a hybrid! It gets a refreshed exterior and interior and is also E25 compliant.

On the design front, the front facia is updated with a new bumper, a larger and illuminated grille, and new headlamps with star motifs. The grille also features star motifs as a reminder of what you are driving. Coming to the side, the alloy wheel design has changed, and on this hybrid trim, you get two fuel lids, one for the fuel and one for the charging port. At the back, the star motifs continue in the updated taillamps, and the rear bumper has also been redesigned.

On the inside, the main highlight is the MB.UX super screen spanning over the dash, it also gets a new design for the air vents, which can be controlled electronically via the infotainment. The steering wheel is also new and feels good to hold, the centre console has been changed, and the fingerprint reader has been replaced by a facial recognition camera. At the back, it gets new dual 13.1-inch screens for the passenger, dual-zone climate control, new air vents, and two mobile phone-like controllers to operate various functions like the window shades, sunroof, etc.

Powering the new S 450e is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six engine and an electric motor producing a total of 435PS and 680Nm, sending power to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. It gets a 22kWh battery pack, which enables 115 kilometres of pure electric driving range. Other features like rear wheel steering and air suspension are also present.



Prices for the S 450e start from ₹2.20 crore, going all the way up to ₹2.38 crore ex-showroom. Mercedes-Benz has also opened the booking for other powertrains of the new S-Class, and deliveries for the same will begin in Q4 of 2026.
