Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated 2026 Baleno, bringing revised styling, a longer features list and a new petrol engine to the hatchback.
Most of the visual changes sit up front. The grille has grown larger to house the radar module for the new ADAS suite, and the Suzuki badge has moved from inside the grille to just above it. A redesigned bumper accommodates the bigger grille, and the LED fog lamps have been reworked too. A chrome garnish on the front fenders and a shark-fin antenna are new additions. The LED headlights, three-block LED DRL signature, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and tail-lights carry over unchanged.
The cabin layout is largely familiar, with the layered dashboard retained and a 9-inch touchscreen at its centre. Maruti Suzuki has stuck with analogue dials and a colour MID rather than a fully digital instrument cluster, and the flat-bottom steering wheel, physical climate control buttons and head-up display all carry over from before.New for this update are a cooled wireless charging pad, a Clarion sound system and ventilated front seats.
On safety, the Baleno gains a Level 2 ADAS suite with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, emergency braking and high-beam assist. A tyre-pressure monitoring system is new too, joining six airbags across all trims, ABS with EBD and a 360-degree camera as standard safety kit.
But the bigger change is under the bonnet. The Baleno drops its 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12N engine for a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E unit shared with the Swift and Dzire. Maruti Suzuki claims this engine has been retuned for stronger low-end torque in the Baleno, with peak outputs rated at 83PS and 112Nm. It’s offered with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.The factory-fitted CNG option continues as well, with outputs dropping to 70PS and 102Nm in bi-fuel mode.
The 2026 Baleno comes at an introductory price of ₹6.10 lakh, ex-showroom, for the base Sigma petrol-manual variant.
