The updated Hyundai IONIQ has been launched in India at a price of ₹55.7 lakh ex-showroom. The new IONIQ 5 now comes with a larger-than-before 84.0kWh (previously 77.4kWh) battery pack which delivers up to 690 kilometres of range (ARAI certified). The new IONIQ 5 continues with a RWD which now produces 228PS and 350Nm.

The new IONIQ 5 offers a new exterior design — changes include bold front and rear bumper designs with skid plates, and a new rear spoiler design. There’s also a new Hi-tech V-garnish lighting design featured on the front & rear bumpers of the car which is incorporated into the Parametric pixel LEDs. The new Hyundai IONIQ 5 will be available in four colour options: Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey and Optic White. All of them will come equipped with an Obsidian Black interior theming.

The infotainment system sports a dual (12.3-inch touchscreen + 12.3-inch instrument cluster) screen. There’s a new steering wheel with three spokes that comes wrapped in leather and a heating function. The wireless phone charger has been redesigned, and there are new physical controls for heated & ventilated seats. The IONIQ 5 comes packed with Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA), and Active Sound Design (ASD). One of the more unique features of the new IONIQ 5 is that it now allows you to pay for EV charging directly via the infotainment system as the payment instrument has been integrated into the system.

Furthermore, Hyundai Bluelink now enables you to remotely immobilise the vehicle. New safety upgrades include a Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist – Rear (PCA-R) and a Parking Distance Warning (PDW – Side).

With an increased price of ₹12.1 lakh over the outgoing model, it has been placed into a more premium territory which makes it go against rivals like the Kia EV6, Volvo EX40, BYD Sealion 7 and BMW iX1 LWB.
