Mumbai, December 15, 2023: Volkswagen India has tied up with Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB), a government welfare scheme for serving & retired service personnel and their families, making its portfolio of safer cars more accessible to those who have devoted their lives to the service of the country.

As part of this initiative, Volkswagen India is making its entire range of safe and German-engineered cars available to beneficiaries of the KPKB scheme across India. Aimed at enhancing accessibility of its portfolio of cars, this new initiative enables beneficiaries to experience world class mobility with an even more reasonable price tag. Volkswagen India aims to make every journey more secure and comfortable with its range of India’s safest portfolio comprising of the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun (5-star GNCAP rated for adult and child occupant protection), along with its global best-seller, Tiguan.

The KPKB system was launched as a welfare initiative by the Indian Government’s Ministry of Home Affairs in 2006. It caters to serving and retired members of Central Armed Police Forces and their families. Security forces initially covered under the scheme include the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal and the Assam Rifles. Further, the scheme benefits are also extended to State Police Forces, Central Police Organizations like Railway Protection Force, Intelligence Bureau, Special Protection Group, National Crime Records Bureau and National Investigation Agency personnel and their families.

KPKB operates out of 119 Master Canteens or Bhandars that act as distribution centers and more than 1,800 subsidiary bhandars that act as retail outlets, serving the scheme’s 35 lakh beneficiaries across India.

In aligning with KPKB, Volkswagen India underscores its role as a brand that is focused on making a positive impact on the lives of those who tirelessly serve and protect the nation.
