• The Mahindra XUV400 goes on sale in India at Rs 15.99 lakh

It is available in the EC and EL variants

After making its debut in September 2022, Mahindra’s first ever all-electric model, the XUV400 EV has been launched at introductory prices ranging from Rs 15,99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-showroom. It is offered in the  EC and EL variants.

At a glance, the XUV400 may seem like an electrified XUV300 but there are clear differences. This includes the XUV400 being 205mm longer at 4,200mm and 7mm taller at 1634mm than the XUV300. Other changes include the new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo, satin copper accents, a closed-off front grille, a revised bumper design and revised tail lamp internals. It can be specced with the Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue body shades.

An all-black cabin with perforated leather seats, and satin copper accents make up the interior theme. Features include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment, an electric sunroof, EV-specific connected car tech, OTA updates, and automatic headlamps.

Powering the XUV400 is an electric motor making 150PS and 310Nm with the option of a 34.5kWh or 39.4kWh battery pack. This is enough to propel it to 100kmph from a standstill in 8.3 seconds.  Mahindra’s also offers some cool performance wizardry with single-pedal drive technology, as well as the fun, fast and fearless drive modes.

The SUV is capable of running up to an MIDC-claimed 375km (34.5kWh battery) and 456km (39.4kWh battery) on a single charge. It also allows for fast charging, with a DC fast charger allowing a 0-80 percent charge in 50 minutes. It is water resistant

Keep in mind that introductory prices for the Mahindra XUV400 will only be applicable for the first 5,000 bookings, with bookings commencing from January 26. As for deliveries, the EL variant deliveries will begin in March while EC variant deliveries will commence during Diwali. At this price range it takes on the Tata Nexon Prime and Max EVs as well as the Hyundai Kona.
