It comes with a 24kWh battery pack and a claimed range of 315km on a single charge, and a smaller battery pack is available as an option
The highly anticipated Tata Tiago EV has just been launched, at a special introductory price of Rs. 8.49 lakh. This price is limited to the first 10,000 bookings, with 2,000 of these reserved for existing owners of either a Tigor EV or a Nexon EV. Bookings for the Tiago EV will kick off on October 10 from 12pm onwards at a token amount of Rs 21,000, available in seven different variants, the variant wise prices are as follows:
Short range (3.3kW Charger) XE: Rs. 8.49 lakh
Short range (3.3kW Charger) XT: Rs. 9.09 lakh
Long range (3.3kW Charger) XT: Rs. 9.99 lakh
Long range (3.3kW Charger) XZ+: Rs. 10.79 lakh
Long range (3.3kW Charger) XZ+ Tech LUX: Rs. 11.29 lakh
Long range (7.2kW Charger) XZ+: Rs. 11.29 lakh
Long range (7.2kW Charger) XZ+ Tech LUX: Rs. 11.79 lakh
Tata claims a 57 minute DC fast charging time (up to 80%) for the Tiago EV, and the 7.2 kW AC Home charger takes three hours and 36 minutes to fully replenish the charge. Tata is offering the ZConnect technology suite on the vehicle with 45 apps and a multitude of connected features, like location tracking, smartwatch connectivity, real time charge status etc.
Some variants will have an eight-speaker Harman infotainment system, which will have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The customers can also get the car outfitted with automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming ORVMs and even cruise control. There are two drive modes and four different levels of regen that the driver can select according to their preferences.
Offered with two different battery packs, the long range version gets 24kWh capacity with 74.7PS and 114Nm; the short range version receives a 19.2kWh battery pack with 61.2PS and 105Nm. The Tiago EV can reach 60kmph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds.
Test drives will commence from December 2022 onwards with customer deliveries starting from January 2023. Of course, the delivery timelines will be dependent on the time, date of booking along with the variant and colour chosen. Also, production of the 24kWh battery pack variants been prioritized based on customer insights to match customer expectations at the time of delivery. With different battery packs and charging options and a starting price of just 8.49 lakh, which makes it the most affordable EV in India, it looks like Tata motors should have a winner on their hands with the Tiago EV.
