• The Tata Nexon EV Max sets a record at Umling La

The Umling La pass is the highest motorable road on the planet

The Tata Nexon EV Max has made its way into the India Book of Records as it has become the first electric vehicle to successfully scale the Umling La pass.

Scaling the Umling La pass is no minor feat, as it is the world’s highest motorable road. Situated in Ladakh, it sits at an altitude of 19,024ft. Despite such challenging conditions, the Nexon EV Max managed to achieve this feat.

Helping the EV is of course the Ziptron electric powertrain which comprises an electric motor making 143PS and 250Nm and is juiced by a 40.5kWh battery pack. This is enough for the electric SUV to offer an ARAI-claimed 437km on a single charge.

Feature highlights in the Nexon EV Max include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, semi-digital instrument display and a sunroof.

Currently, Tata retails the Nexon EV Max at prices starting from Rs 18.34 lakh ex-showroom. The electric SUV achieving the Umling La feat is proof that EVs can handle tough conditions without breaking a sweat.
