• Volkswagen ID. Aero made its global premiere

The fully-electric sedan boasts a drag coefficient of 0.23 and a range of up to 620km

Volkswagen has revealed its first global fully-electric sedan to the world dubbed ID. Aero. It will be positioned in the premium mid-size sedan segment and is almost 5.0m long.

Like any other electric car, the focus was on reducing drag resulting with an impressive drag coefficient of 0.23. At first glance, it looks like any other sedan, though minor details like matrix LED headlamp and tail lamp design are major giveaways. Upfront a LED bar runs along the width of the bonnet meeting at the centre towards the brand’s logo. The same goes for tail lamps, design looks like a single unit with honeycomb design elements. This honeycomb structure can also be seen at the front of the air dam design flanked by LED bars placed on the air scoops.

The car is finished in Polar Light Blue Metallic paintwork, a special light metallic colour shade that has a golden shimmer effect in certain light conditions. The doors are fitted with flush doors adding to the futuristic vibes and the car runs on massive 22-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero, that’s a full-size SUV territory.

No details on the interior or features have been revealed yet, but expect a niche over its other ID siblings.

The ID. Aero is equipped with a 77kWh lithium-ion battery and when combined with its excellent aerodynamic body it can achieve a range of up to 620km.

The electric sedan will go on sale in China first from mid of 2023 followed by the rest of Europe later.
