The first of our list of futuristic watches is the Urwerk UR-230 ‘Eagle’. It features a cover which opens 90 degrees to reveal the watch mechanism. The cover protects the sapphire crystal and features a beak-like indent for easy opening access. The way it clips into the closed position is akin to an eagle seizing its prey in mid flight. Inside the case is a UR-7.30 calibre in a hermetically sealed container. It features a set of turbines to protect the movement from shock while a second set controls the flow of air that feeds the winding system. Pretty cool!
