Usually, in a car’s life cycle, the thoughts of a midlife refresh usually don’t show up until at least the end of the second year or third year of its existence. But Mercedes-Benz has bucked that trend with its dynamic crossover and SUV duo- the EQA and EQB and given them their first midlife refresh. Sure, things aren’t wildly different but are enough to step things up in an overall sense for both models.
Let’s start with the more visible updates for the two electric models and that is in the styling. What’s immediately noticeable is the black panel upfront which has now been updated with the traditional three-pointed star all over. Aside from that, the rest of the EQA and EQB have remained largely unchanged aside from tweaked bumpers and tail lamps.
Inside, the 10.25-inch touchscreen now runs the latest MBUX software which comes with 10 colour options, a Zero Layer interface as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, the Burmester sound system now gets Dolby Atmos.
Under the hood, the electric powertrain lineup remains unchanged, For the EQA its the EQA 250, EQA 250+, EQA 300 4MATIC, and EQA 350 4MATIC with power figures ranging from 188PS for the single motor front wheel drive variants to 288PS for the 4MATIC dual-motor options. For the EQB, it is the EQB 250+, EQB 300 4MATIC, and EQB 350 4MATIC with the same range of performance. As for the range, both models go up to a WLTP-claimed 560km on a single charge. They also now get a “Plug & Charge” functionality that allows seamless charging without additional authentication.
While India doesn’t have the Mercedes-Benz EQA yet, it does retail the EQB at Rs 77.50 lakh. Considering how quickly the model abroad got the facelift, expect the EQB sold in India to also get it soon enough. As for the EQA, we could expect it to arrive towards the end of this year or by 2024.
