Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, today unveiled two EV-exclusive dealerships under the TATA.ev brand identity in Kochi, Kerala. These retail stores are centrally located in Edappally and Kalamassery and will sell only Tata’s EV offerings. Last December, Tata Motors had inaugurated its first Tata.ev EV-specific retail store in Gurugram, Haryana.
The carmaker chose Kerala as the first state to have Tata.ev EV-specific dealerships as it’s the leading market for EVs in the country with a market penetration of 5.6 percent. It is also fitting that Tata should open an EV-only dealership given that it is the leader in passenger EV sales by a huge margin and has the largest passenger EV vehicle portfolio in the country consisting of the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev and Curvv.ev with more in the pipeline.
The TATA.ev Edappally store is the brand’s biggest EV store with an area of over 8,800 sq ft, allowing it to comfortably display more than 10 vehicles besides having ample parking space for customers and visitors. The store also has a dedicated 60 kW DC fast charger. In the coming months, the store will include a dedicated EV service facility with 17 bays (12 for service and five for the body shop). This workshop will be able to handle more than 800 vehicles per month
The TATA.ev Kalamassery store has 6,100 sq ft space which can easily showcase six vehicles with sufficient parking space for visitors. This store also has a 60 kW DC fast charger. The store will soon get a dedicated EV service centre with 11 mechanical bays and will be able to service 700 EVs in a month.
Tata Motors plans to inaugurate many more Tata.ev retail stores across the country besides opening five more EV-specific service centres in Kerala.
