Tata Motors, with its 2020 launch of the Nexon.ev, became the first major OEM in India to convince Indian consumers that an electric vehicle could be a viable replacement for ICE vehicles. And today, the company has announced that it has surpassed the 2,00,000 EV sales milestone.
Since the Nexon.ev’s launch, Tata Motors has been relentlessly working on building the infrastructure necessary to make their EVs a practical option for buyers by offering multiple charging options (community and public chargers as well as on-the-go charging) and expanding its EV portfolio from a single vehicle to five models at present.
The company has recently announced its ambitious Mega Charger network which envisions 500 mega chargers being operational across key locations within the next two years. The company claims that, over the five years since 2020, its EV customers have collectively driven more than 500 crore kilometres and have helped save seven lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions, which is indeed laudable.
The company has announced a 45-day celebratory period during which new as well as existing customers can avail limited-time benefits on Tata.ev vehicles. For new customers, the company is offering vehicle exchange bonus of various amounts, zero down payment facility, free six months public charging on select vehicles, and a complimentary 7.2kW fast charger with every vehicle. Existing customers have also been promised loyalty discounts on the purchase of select models.
