Curvv ICE will come in new engine and powertrain options

Built on the Nexon platform, the Curvv shares a front-end resemblance with the compact SUV but stands out with its unique profile. The Curvv is notably longer, with a sharply sloping coupe roofline and distinct squircle wheel arches. At the rear, it sports a rooftop-mounted spoiler that dips in the center, echoing the concept’s split spoiler design. A full-width tail-light strip sits above the Tata logo.

The Curvv comes in six variants: Smart, Pure+, Creative, Creative+ S, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ . Its cabin closely resembles the Nexon and Nexon EV, with a few updates such as a dual-tone burgundy and black color scheme. The dashboard and center console remain the same, while the four-spoke steering wheel is borrowed from the Harrier and Safari.

Notable features of the Curvv include a segment-first powered tailgate with gesture control, 18-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats, and ventilated front seats. Safety and convenience are enhanced with six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, ESC, disc brakes on all four wheels, TPMS, a 360-degree camera, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Under the hood, the Curvv offers three engine options: a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol producing 120PS and 170Nm, and a new 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol producing 125PS and 225Nm. All engines will come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic available as an option. This makes the Curvv the only mass-market diesel car in India to offer a dual-clutch automatic.

Built on the new ATLAS platform, the Curvv supports various body styles, petrol and diesel powertrains, and both manual and automatic transmissions. Tata Motors will announce the pricing for the Curvv on 2nd September.  Despite its niche coupe-SUV design, Tata claims that the Curvv’s competitive pricing, diverse powertrain options, and multiple variants will enable it to effectively compete in the midsize SUV segment.

The Curvv aims to replicate the success of Punch and Nexon, positioning Tata as a significant player in this market. Competitors include the Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and Hyundai Creta
