The launch of the VF MPV 7 is an interesting move from VinFast. It’s less than a year since the manufacturer entered the Indian market with its VF 6 and VF 7, and both have been received well as premium electric SUVs. The three-row MPV space though is dominated by ICE-powered vehicles even today, like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Kia Carens Clavis and Toyota Innova. And if you’re looking for an a three-row electric MPV, your options are limited to names like the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV 9S and BYD eMax 7. So it is quite clear, VinFast has these MPVs in its crosshairs, besides aiming to make electric family movers more popular.

VinFast

We drove the VF MPV 7 on VinFast’s own test track in Vietnam, where we’d sampled the VF 6 and VF 7 a year ago. The MPV 7 looks very good in the flesh, as the styling is more SUV than MPV, which helps it look arresting stance from most angles. The front-end design is typical of VinFast cars with the V logo in the middle and LED DRLs running from end to end. The bumper design is clean while headlamps are slim, and sit at the edges of the bumper. Our test vehicle was running on 19-inch wheels, while wheel arches had slim black plastic cladding for a rugged look. The MPV 7 also looks very appealing from the sides, and the rear half is what gives it the look of an SUV. The rear end looks good too thanks to the slim LED tail lamps and LED strip, with the VinFast logo in the centre. The roof-mounted spoiler with side extensions adds a dash of sportiness, and overall, the VF MPV 7 boasts good road presence.

VinFast

The cabin has the same minimalistic theme as the VF 6 and VF 7, but the dashboard looks a little too plain here, especially considering how Indian buyers are being spoilt by car makers currently. The setup is similar to other VinFast models which means there is no instrument cluster or driver display, and no HUD unlike the VF 6 or VF 7 either. You’re thus getting all information and accessing almost all controls via the touchscreen, which is a 10.1-inch unit. Quality of plastics is impressive while seats are wrapped in leatherette, and the MPV 7 feels robust in terms of its build quality and also the quality of materials.

VinFast

The flat-bottomed steering wheel is a tad smaller than what we’re used to, but feels nice to hold. Soft-touch plastics ensure there’s a premium feel to everything around you and door panels even get an interesting design for the speaker grille. The touchscreen has a dedicated section for vitals like speed, range, charge status and more, while the rest of the screen allows access to other functions including climate control, navigation etc. Even basic functions like adjusting the ORVMs are embedded into the screen though, which can get irksome. Audio quality is decent, and our test car only had wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, besides which the MPV 7 does not get a sunroof either, so there is some work to be done on the features front. That said, the MPV 7 also does not come with either a 360-degree view or ADAS.

VinFast

Seat adjustments are manual including for the driver’s seat, and front seats are not ventilated either. You get Type-A and Type-C USB ports at the front which sit in the bottom rung of the floating centre console. There’s lots of storage spaces, including large door pockets, a deep centre console and cup holders. Seats are very accommodating and comfortable, and a big highlight is the amount of space throughout the cabin. Second row legroom and kneeroom are excellent and the seats also slide forward or backwards, besides which you can recline the seatback too. Window blinds and an arm rest would have been nice to have though! The second row tumbles down easily to let you access the third row, where kneeroom and headroom are good enough for adults too. Also adding to comfort in the third row are the reclining seat backs, and dedicated AC controls and vents. The boot is spacious too even with all three rows up, and folding the third row make it humongous. However, the MPV 7 does not get a frunk.

VinFast

A 60.13kWh battery juices a single electric motor that sends 204PS and 280Nm to the front wheels. Acceleration is quick yet progressive, and claimed 0-100kmph time is under 9 seconds. You get three driving modes along with three regen levels, though a single-pedal mode would have been a nice addition. Claimed range is 517km per charge, besides which VinFast is bundling in several offers including free charging till 2029. The MPV 7 supports DC fast charging at speeds of up to 80kW, which means 10-80 percent charging is possible in just 30 minutes. I was also impressed by the MPV’s stability and handling on the test track. It feels planted and the steering offers a confident feel, affirming that the MPV 7 will be good for good highways, though body roll is pronounced around bends.

VinFast

Our first impressions of the VinFast VF MPV 7 are positive in terms of its engineering, as it impresses with its build quality, mechanicals and driving experience. It needs to be equipped with more features though, some of which are must-haves for buyers today. What’s more, the MPV 7 has been launched in a single trim, priced at ₹24.49 lakh ex-showroom. The price is on the higher side, despite the 10-year battery warranty, free 7-year roadside assistance and other offers bundled in. A more aggressive price and a few more features should help in making it more lucrative.

VinFast has divided its portfolio into three brand lines: Lac Hong, VF, and Green. Lac Hong represents their ultra-luxury lineup, VF is for the mass-market passenger vehicles, and Green is for its commercial portfolio.

The Lac Hong 800S has an SUV body type, and the Lac Hong 900S is a fastback. Both cars share the same design elements, like the grille with vertical slats, the wing-shaped hood ornament, Split headlamps with LED DRLs, and flush door handles. A notable difference between the two is that the fascia of the 900S has blacked-out elements, unlike the 800S, which gets chrome ones. The wheel design is also different on the 800S with dual-tone multiple spokes, whereas the 900S features a blacked-out five-spoke design. Both cars get a T-shaped split LED tail lamp.

VinFast

On the inside, both cars feature premium materials like Nappa leather, wooden elements, and even gold-plated accents. The dashboard design is similar in both EVs, with wooden treatment on the passenger side, a three-spoke steering wheel with gold accents, dual screen, and wireless charging. Both EVs have VinFast’s ‘zero gravity’ seats and powered doors. The 900S takes it a step further with a privacy partition that separates the cockpit and rear cabin, a starlight headliner (like a Rolls-Royce), and a large-format projector.

In terms of performance, both EVs can be configured with a tri-motor setup, comprising one motor at the front axle and two motors at the rear axle, generating a combined output of 625PS. Both models are also equipped with active suspension for a cushy ride.

The Lac Hong 800S and the 900S are scheduled to be launched commercially in 2027.

VinFast India is going all guns blazing with its promotion policy, which came into effect from January 1, 2026 and it is aimed at reducing EV ownership costs to promote adoption of battery powered vehicles. Under the new policy, VinFast VF6 and VF7 models are covered by a free maintenance program for 3 years or 36,000km, whichever comes first.

In addition, VinFast is also offering complimentary accessories with every purchase. All models receive a portable charger, while select variants—including the VF 6 Wind Infinity, VF 7 Wind Infinity, and VF 7 Sky Infinity get an edge-to-edge glass roof curtain at no additional cost.

VinFast made a grand entry into the Indian market last year, and its strategy is interesting. It began operations rather quietly, laying groundwork for manufacturing, and strengthening support for its products even before they hit dealerships. This move ensured quality remains in check and that customers can experience VinFast’s world-class engineering at competitive prices. The Vietnamese marque kickstarted its India innings with the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. Here, we are taking a close look at the made in India, for India VF 6.

VinFast

The VF 6 comes across as a striking and distinctive-looking SUV at first glance. Features like the connected LED DRLs, which form the brand’s trademark ‘V’ on the fascia give it a unique identity. The sculpted front end features more curves than sharp edges giving it a friendly face, while the compact headlamps are underlined by twin LED strips on either side. Its dimensions and proportions place the VF 6 in the midsize SUV segment, while its large 18-inch wheels accentuate its premium feel with their size and design both. The exterior design builds on the principle of simplicity which is challenging to execute, but VinFast’s designers have done it really well.

VinFast

The simple theme continues inside the cabin too, along with a premium, technology-centric approach. A large, 12.9-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard and is your gateway to almost every information/control in the VF 6 including the speedometer, battery stats, climate control, ORVM adjustment, boot opening, infotainment, drive mode selection and more. The interface is simple and the screen intuitive, which makes it extremely easy to use. Other elements inside the cabin include a simple yet classy dashboard layout with soft-touch plastics and materials, even on the base variant.

The plush upholstery adds to the VF 6’s impressive feel from inside, besides which features a host of modern conveniences, including ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, edge-to-edge glass roof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, India-specific vegan leather seats and brushed metal finishes, all of which exude class and elegance from end to end. The well-contoured front seats promise excellent comfort, while the rear seats offer ample overall support. Plus, there are plenty of storage spaces in the cabin, besides which the large boot can easily accommodate a weekend’s worth of luggage for a family of four.

VinFast

The VF 6 comes equipped with a 59.6kWh battery pack, which is the largest in the midsize SUV segment and promises a range of 468km per charge. The VF 6 supports DC fast charging at up to 100kW, making for ultra-fast charging times. A single electric motor sends up to 204PS and 310Nm to the front wheels which ensures the VF 6 can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 8.5 seconds. The VF 6 thus looks subtle and understated but is equipped with a long list of features, besides which it packs in serious performance. Furthermore, with prices starting from ₹16.49 lakh ex-showroom, the VF 6 is a real cat among the pigeons!

VinFast has confirmed that their newest EV offering, the Limo Green MPV, will be launched this year, most likely in February. Additionally, two more models will follow the MPV’s launch, which can be reasonably expected to be the VF3 and the VF5.

The Vietnam-spec Limo Green MPV gets a 60.13kWh battery pack with a NEDC-claimed range of 450km, and generates an output of 204PS and 280Nm sent to the front wheels. Apart from an 11kW AC charger, the EV supports 80kW DC fast charging which can get it from 10 percent SOC to 70 percent in approximately 30 minutes.

VinFast Limo Green

Following the BNCAP 5-star results of the outgoing VF6 and VF7 models, the brand has announced big plans to extend the MPV to family buyers and commercial fleet operators alike.

VinFast will also be introducing its ‘Green and Smart Mobility’ (GSM) taxi service in the country. There also is an expansion plan aimed at constructing 75 VinFast touchpoints across the country in addition to the existing ones.

The prices for the Limo Green MPV haven’t been officially revealed, however, it can reasonably be expected to start around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom), competing with rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the BYD eMAX 7.

The move aims to solidify the long-term development of VinFast and HP e-Charge brands in the market.

V-Green is a global charging station development company and an arm of VinFast. HPCL operates over 24,400 retail outlets nationwide and over 5,300 EV charging outlets under the HP e-Charge brand. Under the agreement, V-Green aims to take advantage of HPCL’s retail network to accelerate and deploy charging infrastructure across the country.

VinFast’s expansion in India has been rapid, with a network of over 35 dealerships, in collaboration with 13 dealer partners, in just a few months. And visiting one such dealership in Pune helped us understand what sets the VinFast experience apart.

The setup takes you into a world of minimalism, as the subtlety of the exterior and massive glass walls exude understated luxury. The staff is courteous welcome visitors in a very warm manner, exuding the class and appeal one can expect from a manufacturerlike VinFast. The staff’s eager-to-assist and welcoming nature makes you smile, as it characterises care and attention. Another aspect to be highlighted about VinFast dealerships have clean, aesthetically pleasing surroundings. As we were observing the cars on display, a very polite sales representative approached us and offered helpful information about both the VF6 and VF7.

VinFast

Not only did the representative answer our questions about both SUVs, but he also went beyond the usual sales pitch, elaborating on VinFast as a brand and sharing its journey in Vietnam and its rapid expansion in India. His knowledge and understanding of the brand highlight VinFast’s deep-rooted approach to offering its customers more than just well-engineered cars. He also explained the entire buying and delivery processin a manner that was simple, easy to understand and to the point. At various junctures, even the manager chipped in to explain additional processes related to financing. The involvement of the entire staff in explaining the car and the brand was commendable, as not only does it reassure prospective customers about a new player like VinFast is, but also enables them to make a buying decision with clarity. All this happens in the calm, minimal and serene environment of the beautifully architectured dealership. Clearly, VinFast is aiming to offer the same world-class experiences as any other global brand!

Experiences at a dealership can make or break a brand’s customer base, and as a global player, VinFast is well aware of the same. It has thus curated its dealership experiences very thoughtfully and in a manner that will only have prospective buyers smile and engage with the brand, besides leaving a lasting impression on their minds.
