While the VF 6 performs duty as a premium midsize electric SUV, the VF 7 sits a segment above, in the full-size premium SUV space. And that means, not only is the VF 7 significantly larger and more premium looking than its younger sibling, but it also packs in a bigger punch, an all-wheel drive system and gets more features too! Here, we take a closer look at the made in India, for India VF 7, manufactured at VinFast India’s state-of-the-art, world-class manufacturing facility at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, which itself was readied in record time!

VinFast

VinFast has taken a unique approach for the design of all of its cars, and the VF 7 is no exception. It is thus easy to spot the ‘family look’ that it shares with the VF 6, but with that said, there are significant differences between the two on the design front, besides the VF 7’s larger dimensions that lend it a more commanding road presence. It sports VinFast’s signature LED DRLs forming a V at the front, though the headlamps are larger and different looking for better visual appeal. Flush door handles add to its classy feel from the sides, along with the larger and more striking 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear end looks very distinctive thanks to the trademark ‘V’ design and connected tail lamps.

VinFast

The cabin exudes a very classy feel comparable to luxury SUVs, thanks to the abundance of high quality materials, like the India-specific Vegan leather. The dashboard is lined with vegan leather just like the door panels too, while seats are well-contoured, supremely comfortable and very supportive. In fact thanks to the most of the cabin being wrapped in high-quality vegan leather, along with contrast stitching at important points, the VF 7 feels a lot more expensive than it is. A distinct highlight inside this tastefully finished cabin is a crisp-looking high resolution 12.9-inch touchscreen that’s angled towards the driver. It lets you control most functions in the car like the headlamps, boot opening, ORVM adjustment, climate control, infotainment, drive modes, speedometer, charging stats, vehicle information and more. The steering wheel in the VF 7 is a flat-bottomed unit which further adds to the SUV’s sportiness. The front seats provide ample support and are ventilated, while the second row feels very spacious. Other features, include the edge-to-edge glass roof, a distinct highlight of VinFast cars, and a feature that gives the cabin an airy feel. Then there’s the boot, which offers a volume of 537 litres, ensuring you are never out of space for your luggage!

VinFast

The VF 7 is on offer as both a front wheel drive and an all-wheel drive SUV, with two battery pack options – one being a 59.6kWh battery and the other a 70.8kWh unit – while claimed range for the SUV is up to 532km per charge. The latter powers dual motors, resulting in outputs of 354PS and 500Nm, numbers that can put a lot of luxury SUVs to shame. Charging times are blisteringly quick too, with the VF 7 supporting speeds of upto 110kW. Prices start from ₹23.89 lakh, which means the VF 7 punches well above its weight!

VinFast made a grand entry into the Indian market last year, and its strategy is interesting. It began operations rather quietly, laying groundwork for manufacturing, and strengthening support for its products even before they hit dealerships. This move ensured quality remains in check and that customers can experience VinFast’s world-class engineering at competitive prices. The Vietnamese marque kickstarted its India innings with the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. Here, we are taking a close look at the made in India, for India VF 6.

VinFast

The VF 6 comes across as a striking and distinctive-looking SUV at first glance. Features like the connected LED DRLs, which form the brand’s trademark ‘V’ on the fascia give it a unique identity. The sculpted front end features more curves than sharp edges giving it a friendly face, while the compact headlamps are underlined by twin LED strips on either side. Its dimensions and proportions place the VF 6 in the midsize SUV segment, while its large 18-inch wheels accentuate its premium feel with their size and design both. The exterior design builds on the principle of simplicity which is challenging to execute, but VinFast’s designers have done it really well.

VinFast

The simple theme continues inside the cabin too, along with a premium, technology-centric approach. A large, 12.9-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard and is your gateway to almost every information/control in the VF 6 including the speedometer, battery stats, climate control, ORVM adjustment, boot opening, infotainment, drive mode selection and more. The interface is simple and the screen intuitive, which makes it extremely easy to use. Other elements inside the cabin include a simple yet classy dashboard layout with soft-touch plastics and materials, even on the base variant.

The plush upholstery adds to the VF 6’s impressive feel from inside, besides which features a host of modern conveniences, including ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, edge-to-edge glass roof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, India-specific vegan leather seats and brushed metal finishes, all of which exude class and elegance from end to end. The well-contoured front seats promise excellent comfort, while the rear seats offer ample overall support. Plus, there are plenty of storage spaces in the cabin, besides which the large boot can easily accommodate a weekend’s worth of luggage for a family of four.

VinFast

The VF 6 comes equipped with a 59.6kWh battery pack, which is the largest in the midsize SUV segment and promises a range of 468km per charge. The VF 6 supports DC fast charging at up to 100kW, making for ultra-fast charging times. A single electric motor sends up to 204PS and 310Nm to the front wheels which ensures the VF 6 can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 8.5 seconds. The VF 6 thus looks subtle and understated but is equipped with a long list of features, besides which it packs in serious performance. Furthermore, with prices starting from ₹16.49 lakh ex-showroom, the VF 6 is a real cat among the pigeons!

VinFast has confirmed that their newest EV offering, the Limo Green MPV, will be launched this year, most likely in February. Additionally, two more models will follow the MPV’s launch, which can be reasonably expected to be the VF3 and the VF5.

The Vietnam-spec Limo Green MPV gets a 60.13kWh battery pack with a NEDC-claimed range of 450km, and generates an output of 204PS and 280Nm sent to the front wheels. Apart from an 11kW AC charger, the EV supports 80kW DC fast charging which can get it from 10 percent SOC to 70 percent in approximately 30 minutes.

VinFast Limo Green

Following the BNCAP 5-star results of the outgoing VF6 and VF7 models, the brand has announced big plans to extend the MPV to family buyers and commercial fleet operators alike.

VinFast will also be introducing its ‘Green and Smart Mobility’ (GSM) taxi service in the country. There also is an expansion plan aimed at constructing 75 VinFast touchpoints across the country in addition to the existing ones.

The prices for the Limo Green MPV haven’t been officially revealed, however, it can reasonably be expected to start around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom), competing with rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the BYD eMAX 7.

Both the new entrants in India’s e-SUV space, VinFast VF6 and VF7, have earned 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating assessed after recent crash tests. The VinFast VF6 scored 27.13/32 for adult occupant protection and 44.41/49 for child occupant protection, while the VF7 performed slightly better with scores of 28.54/32 and 45.25/49 for adult and child safety respectively.

In crash tests, the VF6 recorded 11.71/16 in the frontal offset barrier test (FOSBT), and 15.87/16 in the side barrier test (SBT), showing adequate-to-good protection for both driver and passenger. For child safety, it achieved 22.41/24 in dynamic tests along with a vehicle assessment score of 10/13.

VinFast

The saga of slightly better scores continued with the VF7, as it scored 11.54/16 in FOSBT and a full 16/16 in SBT, and recorded adequate-to-good protection for all occupants. The VF7 earned a dynamic score of 23.25 in child safety testing, along with an identical 10/13 score for vehicle assessment. Safety kits for both models include seven airbags, variant-specific levels of ADAS, lane assist, ISOFIX mounts, and more.

The VinFast SUV siblings were launched in India on September 6, 2025, officially entering the hotly competitive midsize e-SUV and premium e-SUV market. With rivals such as the Hyundai Creta EV, the Harrier EV, the Mahindra XEV 9e and the Mahindra XEV 9S already selling like hot cakes in the country, such scores allow the new entrants an opportunity to prioritise safety, and hence, contribute to an informed customer choice.

VinFast, Vietnam’s only car manufacturer, is all set to launch its two-car line-up for India on September 06, 2025. While bookings for both the VinFast VF6 and VF7 have been open since July 15, 2025 for the fully-refundable token amount of ₹21,000, this is the first time we will get to know the price of these two cars. We have driven both the cars, click here for the reviews: VinFast VF6 here and VinFast VF7 here.

Both cars from VinFast are SUVs, which shouldn’t surprise a single living soul in this SUV-obsessed world that we live in, but that being said, the cars are remarkably competent and don’t feel at all like the products of a company that came into existence in 2017—less than 10 years ago. The design of the two cars are quite similar, with the noticeably larger dimensions of the VinFast VF7 setting it apart from its smaller sibling.

We are getting the VinFast VF6 in the ‘Plus’ trim, which is equipped with the larger, 59.6kWh battery pack. WLTP-rated range for this one is 480km per charge, while the output numbers are 204PS along with 310Nm, sent to the front wheels. The VinFast VF7 will be coming in the single, fully-loaded trim, but with the choice of two powertrains–a single motor/FWD and a dual motor/AWD. It will get a 70.8kWh LFP battery with WLTP-rated ranges being 450km for the FWD version and 431km for the AWD version. Fast charging speeds that the two VinFast e-SUVs will come with are yet to be announced–we will most likely get our answers on that front on September 06 as well.

Words Abhay Verma

VinFast’s big splash at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo it is aiming to be seen as a premium player in India’s burgeoning EV space. And with the VF6 and VF7 set to be launched as the first products from VinFast India’s Thoothukudi factory in Tamil Nadu, the brand has made it amply clear that it is serious about the market. While the VF7 is larger and more premium, the VF6 is certainly the more strategic of the two, as it will be positioned in what is one of the most crucial EV segments in India, the midsize electric crossover space. This is a segment that has names like the MG Windsor, Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV vying for attention already.

While at VinFast’s factory in Vietnam, we also got a chance to get behind the wheel of the VF6, which makes for a very striking and distinctive appearance at the first glance itself. VinFast’s trademark ‘V’ styling makes its presence felt at the front in the form of the LED DRLs running across the SUV’s width. The bumper is well-rounded sans sharp edges, and houses projector-beam equipped headlamps at either end. The grille sits low, and overall, the front end is very distinctive looking. It’s exterior dimensions also affirm the positioning of the VF6 as a midsize SUV, as it is 4.3 metres long and has a wheelbase of 2.7 metres.

The India-spec VF6 will run on 18-inch wheels shod with tyres with taller sidewalls to enhance ride quality. Ground clearance for the India-spec VF6 will also be higher, at an impressive 190mm. The rounded theme continues at the sides, making for a friendly but striking appearance. That said, black plastic cladding throughout and brushed metal lining on the windows adds character, as does a sharp crease towards the rear that aligns with the tail lamps. VinFast’s trademark ‘V’ styling is present at the rear too and in fact, the VF6 looks particularly impressive from the rear thanks to the sleek tail lamps and LED strip connecting them, and also the sharp creases on the bootlid.

The cabin offers a premium vibe too, though the approach is simple and minimalistic. None of the VinFast models have an instrument cluster or dedicated driver display behind the steering wheel, which might take some getting used to though. Essentials like speed, range, charge status and more are thus viewed via the head-up display, a standard feature for India. The VF6 is equipped with a large, 12.9-inch touchscreen which also displays the same information in a dedicated space on the right, and the screen itself is angled towards the driver for quick reference on the go. The screen is also your gateway to most of the functions and the only physical controls you’ll find inside are under the touchscreen, for selecting a driving mode, using the parking brake or a customisable shortcut.

This means regen modes, headlamp adjustment, climate control and even ORVM adjustments are done through the touchscreen. The VF6 is also loaded with creature comforts like ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof and more. Interestingly, the India-spec VF6 will use vegan leather inside. Quality of materials feels premium, while the steering is a small one with a flat bottom and a brushed metal finish.

The open area in front of the centre console offers a sense of spaciousness, but otherwise, the cockpit feels compact. Seats are comfortable and plush, though legroom and kneeroom at the rear are decent at best. The rear bench is well-cushioned, the floor flat and the seat squab wide with good under thigh support though. VinFast is aiming at scoring five stars in the Bharat NCAP safety tests, and you get seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree view and park assist, making for an impressive array of features on the safety front.

India will get the VF6 ‘Plus’, equipped with a larger, 59.6kWh battery pack. While ARAI certified range is yet to be announced, the version we drove boasts 480km per charge on the WLTP cycle. Fast charging speeds are yet to be revealed too. The VF6 Plus is also equipped with a more powerful motor putting out an impressive 204PS along with 310Nm, sent to the front wheels, while claimed 0-100kmph time is 8.89 seconds. Power delivery is smooth and there’s a likeable feel to the throttle responses and overall performance, as I discovered during our short drive on VinFast’s test track. Modes include Eco, Normal and Sport and the latter makes for particularly brisk acceleration. The test track only offered a limited sense of the car’s dynamics, but my initial impressions are positive. The VF6 feels planted at triple digit speeds and despite an artificial feel, the steering offers good feedback along with a weighted feel in Sport mode. Overall, there’s a very confident, European feel to the road manners, which is a good thing.

The VF6 thus comes across as a well-engineered EV and also impresses as a package. Importantly, VinFast is known for its aggressive pricing and strategies, so expect it to push the VF6 in India rather aggressively in its quest to carve a niche here quickly.
