Reise has introduced a new lineup of tyres aimed at riders who spend most of their time cruising on highways and twisty roads, with occasionally going off the tarmac. The new tourRad range uses radial construction, while the front tyres stick to a bias-ply setup.

tourRad

We got a chance to test these tyres, and for the experience, Reise had equipped a fleet of Royal Enfield Himalayans and a Triumph Scrambler 400 X with the tourR at the front and tourRad at the rear. For the front, the non-radial tyres are available in two sizes, 100/90-19 and 90/90-21, while the rear gets five size options for 17-inch rims. Our test route involved a ride from Mumbai to Lonavala, a stretch that offers a good mix of urban riding, fast highways and some twisty ghat roads.

Patience is the key with new tyres as it is not recommended to start pushing them immediately after fitting. The first 40 to 50km are all about scrubbing them and getting rid of that initial surface layer before they start performing as intended. We took it easy while riding out of Mumbai, which meant dealing with the usual mix of bumpy roads, potholes, loose gravel and occasional wet patches from water spillage. As expected, it  turned out to be a good real-world test.

tourRad

By the time we exited the city, the tyres had settled in and felt ready to be pushed. The initial grip levels were impressive, and the motorcycle felt adhered to the tarmac. There were a couple of unexpected moments where hard braking was required, and the tyres held their line well without any squirming.

Once on the highway, we gradually picked up the pace into triple-digit speeds. The ride quality remained composed, and the tyres continued to inspire confidence. Quick overtakes felt effortless, largely because the tyres gave a strong sense of stability even under hard acceleration and swift lane changes. At cruising speeds, there was no vibration or wobbling felt, which is reassuring, especially on long rides.

tourRad

The real test came as we approached the ghat section on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. The twisty roads allowed us to push harder into corners and get a proper sense of the grip levels. The tourRad tyres held their line well on corner entry, and with each turn, it was easy to carry more lean angle. Switching through a series of consecutive bends from one side to another felt reassuring.

What stood out was the consistency in grip. There was no moment where the rear felt like it would step out. The block pattern on the tyres strike a good balance by maintaining good contact with the road while still being capable of handling occasional off-roading. However, the tyres are clearly designed with mixed use in mind rather than extreme off-road riding.

Reise claims that the use of a high-silica compound improves wet grip while also contributing to longer tyre life and more uniform wear. That is something that will matter a lot to adventure-touring riders who believe in munching miles. However, wet grip and overall  tyre life are things that need a proper long-term test before any opinion.

tourRad

From our experience, the initial impressions of the tyres are good. The tourR and tourRad tyres deliver a solid mix of grip, stability and everyday usability. They are at home on tarmac but also deliver in case you consider light off-roading.

As for the pricing, The tourR starts at ₹3,099, while the tourRad goes up to ₹6,999. That makes them a competitive option, especially for riders in the 400cc segment looking for an alternative. Reise seems to have got the basics right with this range checking most of the boxes that people consider before buying new shoes for their motorcycles.

Reise has launched its new range of tyres in India called the tourRad. The tourRad adventure-touring tyre range is designed as an 80:20 on-road/off-road blocked radial, aimed at offering stability, grip and long-distance comfort.

Reise

The tourRad uses radial construction for the rear tyres and a reinforced construction for the front tyre, which helps offer high-speed stability, durability and better handling. The range features a wide-block tread pattern with wider grooves aimed at enhancing traction across various road surfaces, while also allowing adequate water channeling in wet conditions.

Reise

In terms of performance, the tourRad has been tested at NATRAX and has demonstrated a shorter braking distance in dry conditions. Reise says the tyres performed better than some leading products in benchmark comparisons.

Reise

To enhance the construction, Reise has used a zero-degree steel belt, while a stiffer carcass structure allows better handling and stability during aggressive cornering. With the use of a dual-radii cavity profile, the tyre is said to have an optimised contact patch both in straight lines and while cornering. The use of high-silica and other compounds is aimed at delivering grip in both wet and dry conditions, along with extended tyre life, which is important for adventure-touring motorcycles.

Reise

The Reise tourRad is available in five different rear sizes in a 17-inch configuration, while the front is offered in three sizes across 21-inch and 19-inch wheel options.
