The OnePlus Pad 4 feels like a proper premium Android tablet, and OnePlus seems like it hasn’t cut corners while making this one. It looks clean and slim. The metal unibody design gives it a solid feel, although at around 672 grams, you do notice the weight after long use. However, the tablet is just 5.9mm thin and the bezels are slim enough without becoming annoying while holding it horizontally.

OnePlus

On the front, the Pad 4 shines bright with a large 13.2-inch 3.4K IPS LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and 2400 x 3392 resolution with 315 ppi density. It is bright, sharp and very smooth while scrolling or gaming and the colours look good too. The only thing some users may complain about is the LCD panel instead of OLED/AMOLED, especially at this price range. But honestly, this is one of the better LCD displays on an Android tablet. Watching content feels very immersive and the output 8-speaker setup is surprisingly loud and clear.

OnePlus

Performance is flagship-grade. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset handles pretty much everything without stress. Be it gaming, multitasking, editing, split-screen apps, all run smoothly. OnePlus offers 8GB RAM with 256GB storage and a higher 12GB + 512GB variant. Storage is fast UFS 4.1, and OxygenOS 16 delivers a clean and responsive experience.

In the camera department, there is a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The rear camera works fine for document scans and occasional quick shots in good lighting, but image quality drops indoors. The front camera is decent for video calls and meetings, though still not exceptional. Tablets are rarely camera-first devices and the Pad 4 doesn’t try to overpower with its camera setup either.

OnePlus

Battery life is one of its stronger areas. The 13,380mAh battery comfortably lasts more than a day with mixed use. The standby battery drain is very low too. The 80W fast-charging helps a lot because charging a battery this large could otherwise take a long time.

OnePlus

Overall, the OnePlus Pad 4 comes across as a premium, well-built Android tablet which features great hardware, a crisp display and delivers performance that you would need from a tablet in the premium segment. Be it watching and scrolling through content or just regular use for work and otherwise. The Pad 4 comes with a promise of smooth performance and excellent battery life.

The OnePlus Nord CE5 is the successor to last year’s Nord CE4, and this time, OnePlus has pulled a fast one on us, but in a good way. On paper, the CE5 comes with a faster processor, a bigger battery and a lot of AI features. But what about real-life performance? Well, to test that, we took it for a long test drive.

OnePlus

Starting with everyday usage, the CE5 offers a smooth experience, especially when it comes to AI features. We loved the AI voice scribe, which can record and then transcribe Zoom meetings with just a single tap. The 6.77-inch Super Fluid AMOLED display with HDR10+, 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits (HBM) is bright, legible, and smooth with fluid animations. This made watching movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime quite enjoyable. At lower brightness, the display remains readable even in direct sunlight.

OnePlus

We also did a bit of gaming, mainly BGMI, where we saw an average frame rate of 115 to 117 FPS with performance boost on, but what surprised us was the thermal efficiency. Despite gaming for more than 45 minutes at a stretch, the thermals were under control. The Mediatek Dimensity 8350 Apex processor, combined with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, is capable of handling casual gaming needs quite efficiently.

OnePlus

We also used the phone for photography and to shoot reels. The 50MP Sony LYT-600 main module with OIS performed well in well-lit conditions; however, low-light performance could have been better. Talking of being better, the one thing that did not disappoint was the battery life. The 7,100mAh battery, which supports 80W fast charging, lasted more than 24 hours in our use case and almost two days in light usage.

OnePlus

Overall, the OnePlus Nord CE5 checks a lot of boxes and proves to be an everyday hero. Plus, it will get four years of OS updates and six years of security patches, which will keep it fresh and safe in the long run. In the end, the OnePlus Nord CE5 has a lot going for it, and given its mid-range price, it surely is a worthy contender for your hard-earned money.

Bass Battery Budget Champ  https://turbocharged.in/bass-battery-budget-champ/ https://turbocharged.in/bass-battery-budget-champ/#respond Mon, 21 Oct 2024 05:56:00 +0000 https://turbocharged.in/?p=11335 The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 offers battery life that puts more expensive buds to shame.

OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord Buds 3, the latest in line of the brand’s TWS earbuds. They serve as the successor to the Nord Buds 2 which were launched last year. The Buds 3 comes with 12.4mm titanium drivers and up to 32dB of active noise cancellation (ANC) and a claimed battery life of up to 43 hours which is a huge improvement over the previous version. Although they look similar to the Nord Buds 3 Pro but misses out on a few features that the pro offers and the only differentiating feature is the colourways, which are Harmonic Gray and Melodic White.

The earphones sit comfortably in the ear and the silicon tips make it comfortable for wearing for longer periods. The buds came with only one extra pair of silicon trips, I would have appreciated them more if they came with different sized ear tips making them more usable for people with different ear canal sizes, but overall they are pretty comfortable.

Coming to the sound, The lows and highs are pretty decent considering the price range it falls under but it really lacks the mids. Heavy bass makes the mids even more muffled but with the ANC activated the sound is still pretty decent to the ears. The Buds 3 come with customisable touch controls which can be customised via the Hey Melody app where you can also see the battery level and also use the equaliser to make the sound as per your preference and actually comes as a saviour for people who like less bass. The ANC worked well in varied conditions, we tried it during our flights, calls in crowded areas and also in rooms with heavy echo and they performed better than a lot of other budget ANC earbuds. But the star of the show has to be the battery life. I charged the earphones once and it has been more than 15 days of on and off usage.

At Rs. 2299/- The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 offer great value and with the brilliant battery life they have made a place in my list of must have day to day gadgets.

Vivo V40 https://turbocharged.in/vivo-v40/ https://turbocharged.in/vivo-v40/#respond Tue, 10 Sep 2024 08:46:00 +0000 https://turbocharged.in/?p=12071 A mid-range phone with a fantastic camera

The post Vivo V40 first appeared on Turbocharged.

]]>
The Vivo V40 offers a stylish design with a wave-like glass back panel that stands out, but the glossy finish tends to attract fingerprints, although we were using the phone with its cover most of the time. Measuring 7.6mm thick and weighing 190g, it is slightly bulkier than its predecessor. The reinforced plastic frame, with aluminium alloy at the corners, enhances durability, especially against drops. The Vivo V40 also boasts IP68 and IP69 ratings, providing excellent protection against dust and water, apart from the Pune rains, we also tried dipping it in water and it came out working perfectly.
The 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution delivers sharp, vibrant visuals and supports HDR10+ content, though it lacks Dolby Vision. With a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, the display remains easily visible even in direct sunlight. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling, and Schott Xensation Alpha glass adds durability, though it falls short of Gorilla Glass 7i found on competitors.

Powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the Vivo V40 handles everyday tasks and light gaming smoothly. However, its performance is not significantly better than its predecessor or competitors like the Honor 200, which also use the same chipset. The device runs on FunTouch OS 14, based on Android 14, with some bloatware that can be uninstalled. Vivo promises two major OS updates and three years of security patches.

The camera is the real star of the Vivo V40. The dual 50MP setup, co-developed with Zeiss, delivers vibrant and dynamic photos, especially in portrait mode. However, the absence of a telephoto lens is a notable omission. In low-light conditions, the V40 performs admirably, maintaining good detail and minimal noise. The 50MP front camera ensures crisp, clear selfies.

Equipped with a 5,500mAh battery, the Vivo V40 offers reliable all-day performance and supports 80W fast charging, fully charging in about 46 minutes. Priced at ₹34,999, it’s an attractive choice for photography enthusiasts, though it faces strong competition from other brands with slightly better specs and longer update commitments.

OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G: Review https://turbocharged.in/oneplus-nord-ce4-lite-5g-review/ https://turbocharged.in/oneplus-nord-ce4-lite-5g-review/#respond Sat, 13 Jul 2024 04:55:49 +0000 https://turbocharged.in/?p=9951 The junior Nord that gets some right and some not

The post OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G: Review first appeared on Turbocharged.

]]>
The OnePlus Nord CE4 lite follows the footsteps of its family but does that justify its pricing, given the existence of the OnePlus Nord CE4? Here is our detailed review.

Design and Build Quality:
The OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite follows a different philosophy compared to the CE4. It features a flat back, flat edges, and rounded corners. Being smaller, it’s easier on the hands. The hole-punch display is retained, and yes, this one includes a headphone jack.

Display:
Following in the footsteps of other OnePlus phones, the display continues to impress. The 6.67-inch screen boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, 2100 nits of peak brightness, and ‘Aqua Touch,’ which lets you use the phone even when wet—a feature that works surprisingly well.

Performance and Gaming:
At the heart of the Lite is a Snapdragon 695 5G processor and Adreno 619 GPU, paired with 8GB of RAM. Two storage options are available: 128GB and 256GB. Day-to-day tasks are smooth as butter. We tested a demanding title like COD with both graphics and frame rate set to very high. There were no frame drops, but the phone did heat up slightly after some time.

Camera:
The CE4 Lite features a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main unit and a 2MP depth unit. Photos lacked clarity and were underexposed at times.

Software and User Experience:
The CE4 Lite runs on OxygenOS, based on Android 14. This means no bloatware and a rather smooth experience.

Battery Life and Charging:
This is where the Nord CE4 Lite outshines the competition. It comes with a hefty 5,500mAh battery and an 80W SUPERVOOC charger. The phone easily lasts two days with moderate usage, and charging times are swift.

Verdict:
Priced at Rs. 19,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, it seems like a good deal. However, stretching the wallet a little to go for the Nord CE4 would not be a bad choice either.

OnePlus continues to solidify its reputation for delivering high-quality smartphones at competitive prices with the release of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G. This latest iteration in the Nord series promises to balance performance, design, and affordability. Here’s our in-depth review of what makes this device stand out in a crowded mid-range market.

Design and Build:
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G maintains the brand’s signature minimalist design, boasting a sleek and lightweight build. Its plastic frame and back ensure the device remains easy to handle, while the matte finish lends a sophisticated touch. Available in a variety of eye-catching colors, the Nord CE 4 5G is as stylish as it is functional.

Display:
The 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display is a visual treat, offering a resolution of 2412×1080 pixels. Colors are vibrant, contrasts are sharp, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes for a silky-smooth user experience, whether you’re browsing the web, watching videos, or gaming. The in-display fingerprint sensor is both responsive and convenient, enhancing the overall user experience.

Performance:
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and Adreno 720 GPU, the Nord CE 4 5G is a reliable performer. It handles everyday tasks with ease and can manage more intensive applications and moderate gaming without a hitch. It comes with 8GB of RAM and multitasking is seamless, and the OxygenOS 14 interface, based on Android 14, remains one of the cleanest and most customizable on the market.

Camera:
The triple-camera setup on the Nord CE 4 5G is versatile, though not groundbreaking. It gets a 50 MP Sony LYT600 primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8 MP Sony IMX355 ultra wide-angle camera. The phone also has a 16 MP front camera. However, low-light performance could use some improvement.

Battery Life:
One of the standout features of the Nord CE 4 5G is its battery life. The 5,500mAh battery comfortably powers the device through a full day of use. When it’s time to recharge, the 100W SUPERVOOC Charge technology ensures you’re back up and running quickly, with a 100% charge achievable in just 30 minutes.

Connectivity:
The inclusion of 5G support ensures the Nord CE 4 5G is ready for the next generation of mobile networks. It also features Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1, catering to a wide range of connectivity needs and preferences.

Value:
OnePlus has always been known for providing excellent value, and the Nord CE 4 5G is no exception. It offers a host of premium features at a price that undercuts many competitors, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers who don’t want to compromise on quality.

Conclusion:
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G is a testament to OnePlus’s ability to deliver high-quality smartphones at an affordable price point. Its sleek design, vibrant display, reliable performance, and long-lasting battery life make it a compelling choice in the mid-range segment. While its camera capabilities may not rival flagship models, it offers more than enough for everyday photography needs. We tested quite a few games as they performed well on every basis and zero frame drops and an uplifting gaming experience, with a good level of battery optimization.

Verdict:
For those seeking a mid-range smartphone that excels in key areas without breaking the bank, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G is a standout choice. It embodies the ethos of OnePlus by combining quality, performance, and affordability in a sleek and stylish package.

The post OnePlus Open: Open sesame first appeared on Turbocharged.

Price:
₹ 1.50 lakh

What is it?
OnePlus’ take on a foldable phone is properly overkill with a titanium alloy and carbon-fibre construction. It is rated to survive 4,00,000 fold cycles which translates to 100 folds a day for 10 years! At 239 grams it is one of the lightest foldable in the world. Performance should be proper with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and an Adreno 740 under the hood coupled with 512GB of storage.

Why should I buy one?
If you want to use your phone to ditch your tablet but don’t want a gigantic phone, the OnePlus Open like other foldables make sense, and the over-engineered device should be more reliable than foldables of the past.
