In response to this, Mahindra has decided to reopen the bookings of the BE6 Batman Edition for just one day, on March 10, 2026, from 11 AM. Also, bookings referred by existing BE6 Batman Edition owners will receive priority allocation.

There are no changes from the BE 6 Batman Edition that was launched August last year — it gets a custom satin black colour with Batman decals on the front doors, 20-inch wheels, gold-painted suspension and brake callipers, ‘BE6 X The Dark Knight’ badging at the rear, carpet lamps with bat emblem logo projection, and bat emblem on the hub caps, rear quarter panels, rear bumper, windows, and rear windshield. It also gets Batman inspired exterior engine sound.

Batman

Inside, it gets a blacked-out dash with a golden halo surrounding the driver, the seats get suede and leather upholstery with gold stitching, and bat emblem embossed into them. The steering wheel, centre console, and key fob get gold accents, while the boost button on the steering wheel is the bat logo. More changes include red lighting elements and a bat logo on the panoramic roof, fabric door straps with Batman Edition branding, and a golden Batman Edition plaque on the dashboard.

The Mahindra BE6 Batman Edition costs ₹28.49 lakh (ex-showroom), which is ₹1.59 lakh more than the standard BE6 Pack Three 79kWh.

Mahindra has launched the XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition in India, priced at ₹29.35 ex-showroom. The Cineluxe Edition sits between Pack Three Select and the Pack Three variant, and receives cosmetic updates.

On the inside, the XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition features a Chestnut Brown and Nocturne Black colour leatherette interiors. However, interior features and tech remain the same, like the triple HD display and the 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system with Dolby Atmos and augmented-reality HUD and the Infinity Roof ambient lighting.

Mahindra

Exterior changes are limited to two new colourways – Satin Black and Satin White. Mahindra has added ‘CineLuxe’ badging on the rear pillars of the vehicle. The rest remains similar to the pack three variant like the 19-inch alloy wheels and full LED lighting.

Mahindra

Powering the XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition is the larger 79kWh battery pack and rear wheel-mounted electric motor, which makes 285PS and 380Nm. Mahindra claims over 500km of real-world driving range.

It’s now half a decade since we laid the foundation of TURBOCHARGED, put together by a bunch of enthusiastic and hard-working petrolheads trying to live a dream. Our daily lives revolve around embargoed timelines, travel, riding and driving the newest of two-wheelers and cars for a living and of course, reporting on the automotive industry. Most importantly, we aim at bringing our audiences storytelling and visuals that make you go wow, across mediums, digital and offline. Now, fifth anniversaries are rather special, whether a marriage anniversary, or that of an energetic, enthusiast-centric publication like ours and call for special celebrations. And being the drama king that he can be, Abhay decided to announce the celebrations in his trademark manner.

Ed entered the office with a long face, stress dripping from his forehead, to throw the team into a tizzy. But turns out, he wanted to surprise us and announced that we would celebrate TURBOCHARGED’s fifth anniversary in Goa! Given that we are an automotive publication, it was kind of obvious we wouldn’t be taking a flight or train to Goa, and the first thought in my head was, what cars would we drive to Goa in. And before I could ask him, Abhay mentioned we would be driving the Mahindra XEV 9e to Goa. And then, with his trademark smirk, he proclaimed we would be doing it on a single charge! Eyebrows went up, since a full-house with luggage, and the 450km drive on a single charge meant the XEV 9e would see a charging gun only once we got to Goa!

I was excited, but also a little concerned. I like challenges, but this one right at the edge. What if we ran out of charge just after the climbing the steep and beautiful Anuskura ghat? Unlike the dino-juice that other SUVs guzzle, the XEV 9e only likes its watts and volts, which meant we would have to be more mindful than we would in an internal combustion engine-powered SUV. Or would we, considering that the XEV 9e packs in a massive, 79kWh battery pack and boasts a claimed range of 656km per charge, which also translates to over 500km in the real world? Maybe I was overthinking it, because Pune to Goa is just about 450km.

Destination decided and route set, the Mahindra XEV 9e was all charged up and so were we, ready to take on a mix of four lane highways, narrow country roads, the charming Sahyadri mountains and some off-road sections. All this, with four people and their luggage on board (including camping gear for us to enjoy the great outdoors!) on a single charge. As we left Pune city, the optimist that he is, Mrinmoy was not only confident we would make it to Goa on a single charge, but also have enough charge left for us to power our devices, given that the 79kWh battery pack powering the Mahindra XEV 9e is among the largest in the country, which ensures range anxiety is a thing of the past. In fact the XEV 9e has just won the highly coveted Green Car by ICOTY award, which speaks volumes about Mahindra’s engineering and how good the SUV is overall!

The XEV 9e was in its element on the highway courtesy its outputs of 285PS and 380Nm and was helping us munch miles at a pace rapid enough to shame luxury SUVs that cost twice as much! After all, with its design, packaging, space and exhaustive list of features the XEV 9e can embarass luxury SUVs costing twice! Barely four hours and a quick pit stop later we were ready to exit not-so-smooth NH48 and turn onto some country roads in search of hills. But besides its performance and sporty handling that enable a feverish pace on open roads, its excellent comfort is yet another aspect that makes the XEV 9e apt for road trips. And that is besides the luxurious cabin. The triple screen layout is a class act, and sitting in the front passenger seat I had a crisp and bright looking 12.3-inch display to myself, to watch some of my favourite videos, while Abhay used the other two screens, both 12.3-inch units, one for navigation and the other as the driver display. This, while Mrinmoy  sat grumpily in the second row, staring outside.

XEV

That was because Mrinmoy had forgotten to carry his iPad along, which had he done, he would have been able to make the most of the XEV 9e’s BYOD or ‘Bring Your Own Device’ feature that allows you to mount a phone/tablet onto the front seatback and also charge it using 65W Type-C USB port beneath it. On that note, the XEV 9e comes with more fast charging Type-C USB ports than seats, which ensures you’re never out of charging options, besides the wireless charger upfront. And besides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which helps for smartphone connectivity and thus navigation, the XEV 9e also has a detailed heads-up display. Abhay pointed out that it offers critical information including navigation with AI-generated prompts, charge status and range and more, without him needing to taking his eyes off the road.

My favourite bit though was the XEV 9e’s 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system with Dolby Atmos given its excellent acoustics. What stood out for Mrinmoy though was the Sonic Suite, which allows the XEV 9e to even mimic the roar of a V8 through the speakers. Another unique feature we appreciated together is the roof-mounted selfie camera just above the IRVM, which also enables video calling and virtual meetings on the go! Of course, as future-ready SUV the XEV 9e comes with an onboard internet connection too, which you can even tether to your smartphone, a feature that helped me when my phone network was patchy.

And powering all this wizardry is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 chipset, with an enviable 24GB of RAM! The processor is capable of 51 trillion operations per second, and Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture (MAIA), the brain behind the XEV 9e’s excellent computing, helps you make the most of this chip. It powers and controls the SUV’s infotainment system, internet access, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle information and also the five radars and 12 sensors that are part of its Level 2 ADAS. Simply put, the XEV 9e packs in more firepower than some of the latest smartphones! As we approached the hills, we still had more than 70 percent charge left, and less than 300km to get to Goa, which was phenomenal! But as we approached Anuskura Ghat, the sceptic in me sprang out yet again given the steep inclines ahead, though the rest of the team, especially Abhay, seemed very confident.

The XEV 9e was quick on its feet through the hills too and made light of the task, and also felt engaging thanks to its rear wheel drive setup. Its 19-inch wheels shod with 245-section tyres were helping but the star of its show was the XEV 9e’s brilliant suspension which features frequency dependent damping with the multi-tuned valve concentric land technology that smoothens rough patches to offer a stellar ride quality while also endowing it with excellent handling prowess. The XEV 9e was thus going from corner to corner with minimum inputs and effort and minimal body roll, offering the best of both worlds.

And once on top, the XEV 9e’s multiple regen levels, especially single pedal mode with the strongest regenerative braking came to the fore, helping us recover charge lost on the way up quickly. This is something only EVs can allow – extend range by simply braking, which is sheer genuis! We even engaged in an off-road excursion, and while it is no off-roader, the XEV 9e impressed with its ability to tread off tarmac, thanks to its suspension and 218mm ground clearance. Once back on tarmac and past the hills, I took over the driving from Abhay. That’s when I got a taste of how brutally quick the XEV 9e can be. In Race mode, 285 horses are sent to the rear wheels faster than you can think and before you know it, you are pinned to your seatback! The XEV 9e also impressed me with its rock-solid stability and steering response, weighing up well as per speeds.

We were soon past the 300km mark, and still had a shade under 50 percent charge left, meaning getting to Goa on a single charge was a given. By the time we got there, the sun had lowered its gaze and was looking stunning, with the shimmering waters of the Arabian Sea in the foreground. As we rolled to a stop by the cliff, we had made it with 17 percent left, after driving for 479km. But this wasn’t just about us driving from Pune to Goa on a single charge. It was also about Mahindra’s excellent engineering and the XEV 9e’s brilliant BMS, besides our fifth anniversary. Most would deem what we had just accomplished impossible, but that’s the beauty of modern engineering. It lets you achieve feats beyond imagination, and modern-day electric SUVs like the Mahindra XEV 9e are a shining beacon of such engineering feats!

Currently, the Thar Roxx comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (RWD only) producing 162PS to 177PS depending on the variant, and a 2.2-litre diesel (RWD + 4×4 options) producing 152PS to 175PS depending on the variant.

Thanks to its RWD and 4×4 drivetrains, the ROXX technically has only one true competitor, the Mahindra ScorpioN, which ranges from ₹13.49 lakh to ₹24.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

Prices for the outgoing Mahindra Thar ROXX start at ₹12.39 lakh, going up to ₹22.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tata Safari petrol enters the three-row SUV segment; one that already has well-established competition. While Tata positions the Safari as a premium product with net-connected features as it does with the Harrier, its competitors fight back with consistent sales, competitive power figures, and aggressive pricing. For reference, specifications for the Tata Safari Petrol are as follows:

Engine: Inline four-cylinder, turbocharged

Power: 170 PS @5,000 rpm
Mileage: 25.6 kmpl (claimed)
Price: ₹16.19 lakh – ₹27.34 lakh (ex-showroom)

1. Mahindra Scorpio-N

2. Kia Carens Clavis

Kia Carens Clavis

Trailing considerably behind the Scorpio-n but yet selling better than the rest, the Kia Carens remains a favourite in the seven-seater category. Kia sold over 6,530 units of the Carens in November 2025, and with the facelifted Carens Clavis, Kia may be reasonably expected to keep those numbers up.

Engine: Inline four-cylinder, turbocharged
Displacement: 1,498 cc
Power: 160 PS @5,500 rpm
Mileage: 15.95 kmpl – 16.66 kmpl

The XUV 700 posted 6,176 units in November 2025. Despite being positioned closer to the Safari in size and pricing, its powertrain spans a wider range, offering higher power in certain models. The facelifted XUV 7XO has simultaneously replaced the 700, proving a worthy rival to the Safari.

Engine: Inline four-cylinder, turbocharged
Displacement: 1,997 cc

2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO First Drive Review https://turbocharged.in/2026-mahindra-xuv-7xo-first-drive-review/ Fri, 09 Jan 2026 09:06:00 +0000 https://turbocharged.in/?p=17671 Mahindra’s premium SUV gets a comprehensive makeover to stay relevant, and
feels almost all-new now

The post 2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO First Drive Review first appeared on Turbocharged.

]]>
Photography: Shrenith Bhandary

When the Mahindra XUV 700 broke onto the scene in 2021, it ruffled a lot of feathers with its design, powertrains, features and dynamics, besides democratising ADAS. It received minor tweaks over the years but the midlife update it has just received feels so comprehensive, you could call this one a generation change. Heck, even the name is new, as the XUV 700 is now called the XUV 7XO! A full day behind its wheel around Jaisalmer’s arrow straight roads, and then a 270km dash to Jodhpur in its uber-popular diesel automatic version gave me ample time to assess the SUV.

Mahindra

The biggest change visually is the new face which helps the 7XO look larger, grander and a lot more modern. The grille looks sleeker and wider now, and incorporates new matte black and dark chrome elements. DRLs have been revised too and are smaller and look classier and add to the sense of novelty along with the new grille and new bumper. The headlamp units are new as well and remind of the Scorpio-N’s, besides which the bumper integrates a set of ice cube-shaped cornering/fog lamps at the bottom. These also offer additional illumination above 80kmph along with the headlamps, but only on the high beam.

Mahindra

The silhouette from the sides remains unchanged, though the new 19-inch wheels on higher trims help the 7XO look different. The rear end looks identical to that of the XEV 9S, but the resemblance is not a bad thing. In fact I quite like the tail lamps as they have the same shape as before but look fresh and more appealing thanks to their redesigned elements. The tail gate is the same as before too, but we’re not complaining, and the XUV 7XO name etched across it looks nice too.

Mahindra

Moving to the interiors, it was just a matter of time before Mahindra borrowed cues from its born-electric XEV 9e, and the 7XO’s dashboard and two-spoke steering wheel are straight off the EV. The dashboard looks very premium thanks to its design and choice of colours and materials, especially the beige-brown hued soft touch panels. Seats and door trims look very premium thanks to their design and beige-brown dual tone colours, add to the ambience.

Mahindra

Unlike the XEV 9e – and thankfully – the front passenger screen has a ‘privacy’ glass panel now meaning the driver can’t see what’s playing on the screen and avoid getting distracted. The steering wheel also uses physical switches now as opposed to the haptic ones on the XEV 9e, a welcome change. The second row seat is fixed and does not slide, but the seatback can be reclined. The second row thus feels very spacious and comfortable, and you even get the same electric boss mode as the XEV 9S to move and adjust the front passenger seat. The third row is cramped and best for short journeys at best though, given the lack of kneeroom and headroom both.

Mahindra

As you would expect, the XUV 7XO also comes loaded with features. So, besides the three high-resolution 12.3-inch displays (standard across trims!) and electric boss mode, you get a massive panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and what Mahindra calls the 540-degree view, essentially is 360-degree with a top-down view. The infotainment system packs in a host of apps for everything, right from YouTube and music streaming to OTT apps, online shopping and even quick commerce apps!

Mahindra

There’s a 1,400W, 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision as well, yet another first. BYOD or Bring Your Own Device lets you mounts smartphones or iPads onto the front seatbacks and even charge them using dedicated 65W Type-C ports, and second row occupants get a dedicated wireless charger too. The XUV 7XO is equipped with what Mahindra calls the Level 2+ ADAS, with cameras that boast a higher resolution and more powerful radars for better effectivity. You get six airbags as standard and an additional knee airbag on the AX7 T trim, besides disc brakes all round, ESC, hill-hold and hill descent all as standard.

Mahindra

Powertrains include the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol offering 203PS and 380Nm and 2.2-litre diesel putting out 185PS and 450Nm (420Nm in the manual version) as before. We only drove the diesel automatic, which impresses with its torquey feel as the engine pulls strongly from as low as 1,400rpm, while feeling very smooth and refined. It feels effortless cruising at 100kmph or more and this is easily the best diesel engine out there right now, as far as SUVs costing below ₹ 50 lakh go. In fact once you drive it, it isn’t surprising to note that 75 percent of the XUV700’s sales came from the diesel versions! So while the petrol engine may be more powerful, it’s hard to see why someone would want it over the diesel, given how much more impressive the oil burner is in every aspect.

Mahindra

Its all-new suspension setup is the 7XO’s biggest highlight though. It is equipped with what Mahindra calls DaVinci dampers which have replaced the XUV700’s frequency dependent dampers but work better given their DCx piston valve technology and hydraulic bump stops. The results are astonishingly good, as the XUV 7XO offers an unbelievably good ride quality even on the worst of roads. At the same time, the suspension also lets you go fast around bends or change lanes suddenly without unsettling the SUV. The suspension also does a fantastic job of keeping the 7XO planted and stable at triple digit speeds, while the steering feels well-weighted. Effectively, the 7XO boasts the kind of ride and handling you would expect from SUVs costing twice as much. And the best bit? This new suspension is standard across variants!

Mahindra

Overall, Mahindra has done a stellar job of turning the XUV 700 into the 7XO, as this new version of the SUV feels far more polished and capable, and more than just builds on the strengths of the original. Mahindra has also hit the ball out of the park with the suspension, yet again, besides equipping it with more features than you will perhaps ever need. The build quality feels more premium too, while the interiors feel rich and classier than before. And with prices beginning from just ₹13.66 lakh rupees ex-showroom for the petrol and ₹14.96 lakh rupees for the diesel, the 7XO is also sure to shake up a lot of established names in the midsize SUV space. Arguably, this is one of the biggest disruptors of 2026 already!
