TVS Motor Company launched their ‘A Blaze of Black’ dark edition variant of the Apache RTR 160 and RTR 160 4V in Maharashtra earlier today. The dark duo that would make Batman drool is priced at Rs.1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the RTR 160 and Rs.1.20 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the RTR 160 4V.

The duo now comes with a shiny black finish, subtle graphics and a blacked out logo and exhaust. Under the covers, both the motorcycles remain unchanged with the 4V putting out 17.55PS at 9,250rpm and the RTR 160 2V churning 16.04PS at 8,750rpm. Additionally, they come with three ride modes (rain, urban and sport), digital LCD cluster, LED headlamp and taillamp and GTT (glide through traffic) system.

If the Apache series does not impress you, the Bajaj Pulsar P150, NS160, Yamaha FZ V4 or the Hero Xtreme 125R could prove to be valuable alternatives around the same price bracket.

Bajaj has added a new Pulsar to its lineup, called the N150. Priced at Rs 1.18 lakh, ex-showroom, It marries the engine and chassis of the P150 with the styling of the N160. It is mechanically identical to the P150, with a 149.68cc air-cooled single cylinder producing 14.5PS and 13.5Nm.

It is underpinned by a simple chassis, with telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. There’s a 240mm disc at the front with a rear drum, and consequently single-channel ABS only. The P150 is offered in a dual-disc variant apart from the single-disc one.

The price of the P150 starts at Rs 1.17 lakh for the single-disc variant and goes to Rs 1.20 lakh for the dual-disc variant. By that account, the N150 is pricier than the P150 by Rs 2,000. However, the original Pulsar 150 is still on sale with a price tag of Rs 1.17 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The N150 is significantly more affordable than the N160 though, with the latter costing Rs 1.41 lakh, ex-showroom.

The P150’s rivals come in the shape of the Yamaha FZ and FZ S and the Honda SP160.
