Suzuki unveils 2024 Swift Concept at Japan Mobility Show 2023

Team Turbocharged
Model developed by the manufacturer with “Drive & Feel” in mind

We finally have a preview of the latest iteration of India’s favourite sporty hatchback from Suzuki, the 2024 Swift  in the flesh at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 after much anticipation. Suzuki has endeavoured to make the car sporty yet adept at daily usage as well, with the theme of “have fun with car and daily lives”. Let us see how the manufacturer has achieved this feat.

The exterior of the car is an evolution of the previous iteration, with an updated head lamp design, and fog lights given a garnish of silver below. The grille is similar in overall looks, but with a thicker surround, the car’s front looks ready to go on a drive any time. Coming to the sides of the car, while the profile of the car looks similar, the rear door handle is now no longer hidden. It gets the conventional handle similar to the front door. The wheels look clean, with a five spoke design with diamond cut finish. The rear side of the car gets smoked tail lights, and a two tone bumper which completes the car’s sporty aesthetic.

Inside, the car sports a dual tone dashboard which makes the look of the interior of the car feel premium. The infotainment screen is now bigger and is put on top in a ‘floating’ design, seemingly hovering over the AC vents. Speaking of the vents, the new design has horizontal  chrome grills, which look much more upmarket than the outgoing design. Gone are the rotary dials for the climate controls, in are the toggle switches which enhance the look and feel of the car. Below all the controls, there is a suspicious CD player like console. We hope the fans of music CDs will be delighted if the slot really is a CD player.

In terms of vehicle safety, the Suzuki Swift will have ADAS functions, such as Adaptive High Beam system, Driver Monitoring System and Autonomous Braking Assist. It is yet to be seen whether the India-spec model will get this feature as no Maruti Suzuki model currently has ADAS features.

While the powertrain specifications are not disclosed by the manufacturer, we expect that the car will have a hybrid system in Japan.

With the unveiling of the concept, expect the production version of the 2024 Suzuki Swift to break cover soon after. As for the hatchbacks’ potential arrival in India, it’ll likely happen by 2024 at the earliest but we surely are eagerly anticipating a long awaited proper upgrade to the Swift in India!
