TURBOCHARGED August 2025 Issue:

Our latest issue is out now, and it’s brimming with action! Headlining it is the most powerful and most extreme Defender from Land Rover yet, the Defender Octa. Powered by a twin turbocharged V8 engine that puts out 635PS and 800Nm, this one is probably your fastest way to go continent-hopping! We’ve also put pedal to the metal in BMW’s newest sedan, the 2 Series Gran Coupe, besides getting a soothing massage on the go in the second row of the MG M9, India’s first electric luxury MPV. There’s also no less than half a dozen two-wheeler reviews in our latest issue, starting with Ola’s first ever motorcycle, the Roadster X+. Then there’s the Vida VX2, Hero’s first electric family scooter. We’ve also reviewed updated versions of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z and the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, besides the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC and Brixton 500 XC. Quite the spectrum of two- and four-wheelers in this issue – you don’t want to miss it! [Extreme, Land Rover, Defender Octa, continent, BMW, 2Series, Gran Coupé, metal, massage, luxury, electric, MPV, MG M9, ola, roadster X+, Vida VX2, Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Triumph Scrambler 400 XC, Brixton 500 XC, spectrum, issue, review, TURBOCHARGED]

Dock Ock
Just like the character from the Spider-man franchise, the Land Rover Defender Octa is a nice, well-educated character with an insane amount of power and an occasional tendency of becoming a handful.

SpeedShifting
Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd has added Bentley as the sixth marque under its umbrella while Mercedes-AMG has revealed an electric supercar concept. On the far side of the world, Chevrolet’s latest Corvette, the ZR1X, packs more power than the Ferrari F80 and equals the McLaren W1. Closer to home, a number of Marutis and a Tata perform well in the Bharat NCAP.

Car Reviews
We find out how some 838mm diameter tyres perform—the largest ever fitted to a Land Rover Defender as we drive the Defender Octa Edition One. We also spent some time with MG’s new luxury EV, the M9, which is targeting a hitherto unexplored niche of the ultra-luxury EV market. We also sample the refreshed BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Take Two
We can’t contain our excitement about a new supercharged two-stroke engine which can vary its compression ratio on the fly and switch fuels, e.g. from petrol to diesel or even hydrogen, without turning off. Elsewhere, CRA Motorsport has announced a racing motorcycle engineering challenge for students.

Bike Reviews
Those of you who have read the last few issues would have noticed that we managed to carry at least six two-wheeler reviews per issue and July is no exception, as we once again bring you half a dozen reviews of machines as disparate as the Ola Roadster X+ and the Brixton 500 XC. The others are all refreshed versions of older models, the three motorcycles (Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, Triumph Scrambler 400 XC and the Royal Enfield Hunter 350) with added features and the Vida VX2 electric scooter with a more affordable price tag at the cost of a few.

Turbo Life
It’s time to welcome the Tata Curvv to the TURBOCHARGED fleet, and we say a fond goodbye to the definitive city car of this era of automobiles outside the first-world countries—the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Also leaving our garage are a pair of Heroes, the Xtreme 125R and the Mavrick. We also took time to review the new Trailhound tyres from TVS Eurogrip, Royal Enfield’s Urbanite riding sweatshirt and KYT’s NZ-Race helmet, as well as the budget gaming mobile—the Poco M7.
