Royal Enfield showcased the rumoured electric prototype of the Himalayan today at EICMA 2023. The manufacturer says this is their attempt to showcase their sustainable exploration. They say the technology in the prototype will be used in their future motorcycles. This test bed is worked on by the manufacturer to develop their electric platform, to iron out any niggles before they can be introduced for sale.

Royal Enfield said the bike was made to answer a question- “What if we can create a bike that encourages exploration, by reducing the stress on the rider and on the environment?”

The company has announced the creation of a much bigger ecosystem that consists of green charging pit-stops, responsible travel initiative, creation of self-sustaining communities and collaboration with UNESCO to preserve the cultural heritage of the Himalayan region. This is in line with their intention of being able to keep the ranges clean and safe for generations of riders.

The bike has been tested in the Himalayan ranges, to prove the technology, which they intend to bring to other bikes as well. The manufacturer has not yet revealed the technical specifications of the bike, but has promised that more such concepts will be revealed in the future.
