Royal Enfield has launched its first-ever electric motorcycle called the Flying Flea C6, priced at ₹2.79 lakh ex-showroom. However, it also has the Battery-as-a-Service model, which brings down the price to ₹1.99 lakh. The bookings for the C6 will open from 12 April at its first dedicated Flying Flea showroom in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Deliveries are expected to happen at the end of May.

The Flying Flea brand name is a tribute to the original lightweight motorcycle used during the 1940s. Royal Enfield has combined the vintage design with modern tech to appeal to a larger audience.

Powering the Flying Flea C6 is a 3.91kWh lithium ion battery pack, which is encased in a magnesium alloy casing. The battery powers the motor to produce a peak output of 15.4kW and has a claimed IDC range of 154km. The torque output on the C6 is 60Nm. Royal Enfield claims a 0-60kmph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 115 kmph. Charging time from 20-80 percent is just over 60 minutes using a standard 16Amp wall socket. The charging system supports multiple charging modes – rapid, standard and trickle charging with the on-board charger.

In terms of hardware, the Flying Flea C6 features a unique girder linkage front suspension and monoshock at the rear, which also supports preload adjustment. Suspension travel is 100mm at the front and 110mm at the rear. The motorcycle rides on 19-inch tubeless tyres wrapped around alloy wheels.

Braking duties on the Flying Flea C6 are handled by a 260mm front disc and 220 rear disc – complemented by dual-channel ABS. The rear ABS is also switchable, while the overall ABS sensitivity can be tuned for three different levels. Besides that, it also gets traction control and five riding modes – City, Rain, Highway, Sport and Custom. The Custom mode can be tweaked as per the rider’s preference. The motorcycle weighs 124kg.

Additionally, the Flying Flea C6 gets a TFT instrument panel with touchscreen, USB-C charging, wireless phone charging and an electronic handle lock. The Flying Flea C6 is available in two colours – Storm Black and Flea Green.
