Visit to the Siachen Base Camp- World’s highest battlefield

Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan Odyssey 2024 from Chandigarh today, marking 20 years of the event. This annual ride, celebrated for its blend of adventure and camaraderie, takes motorcyclists through the challenging terrain of Ladakh.

This year, 122 riders from various countries, including the Czech Republic, USA, Costa Rica, Israel, and Spain, are participating. The group, ranging from a 21-year-old to a 55-year-old woman, embarked on the 18-day, 3050 km journey after a traditional Ladakhi ceremony conducted by Buddhist lamas. The riders are divided into two groups, Team Zoji La and Team Zanskar, each following different routes from Chandigarh to Leh, Ladakh.

For the first time, the ride will include visits to the Siachen Base Camp, the Indian Army’s outpost in the Siachen Glacier region. The expedition will conclude in Leh, where participants will join the inaugural ‘Great Himalayan Adventure Festival’ from August 15 to 18. The festival will focus on adventure, exploration, and sustainability.

Throughout the journey, the riders will navigate some of the world’s toughest terrains, promoting responsible motorcycling in alignment with Royal Enfield’s mission to ‘Leave Every Place Better.’ Efforts to reduce plastic waste in the Himalayas will be a key aspect of this year’s ride.
