The Explorer V4 ventilated riding jacket is constructed from 600 D polyester material, which provides resistance to abrasion. Mesh panels are used to provide sufficient airflow. What is great is the fitting, especially for my lean frame, the sheer number of adjusters on the elbow, sleeves, hips and cuffs make it fit well. It features a YKK two-way zipper for front closure and includes an anti-scratch guard that protects the motorcycle tank from scratches during riding.

Impact zones of the jacket are reinforced with abrasion-resistant 610D polyester Cordura fabric, which also protects the jacket from scuffs and tears. For the protection part, the Explorer V4 comes with D30 CE level 2 armour at the shoulders and elbows and Royal Enfield Ergo Protech CE level 2 armour at the back. You can also add chest protection with optional chest armour from Royal Enfield. The jacket comes with a class ‘A’ CE certification.

Wearing the Explorer V4 riding jacket is comfortable. The mesh panels allow sufficient air to flow, which is a prerequisite when riding in warmer weather. The large elasticated accordions at the back allow sufficient stretch, which makes movement easy. The collar on the Explorer V4 comes with neoprene cushioning, which prevents skin chafing when wearing for longer periods. Additionally, the secured closure at the neck ensures a snug fit.

Moving ahead, the Explorer V4 jacket comes with a sunglass holder loop, an ID card holder in the left cuff and a velcro patch on the left shoulder if you wish to add any personalisation touch of your own. It also features reflective patches, which ensure proper visibility during night time usage. For keeping your essentials, there are two utility pockets on each side with a zipper closure. I personally like the red print on the jacket, which lends a trendy look to it while still keeping things subtle.

The Royal Enfield Explorer V4 is priced at ₹12,250, which is a good deal considering the kind of materials it uses and the protection it offers. Fitting is also great, considering the sizes available, starting from small to 4XL, most riders should find their perfect size.
