On 24th May 2024, Land Rover announced their new plans for the production of Range Rover & Range Rover Sport.

Range Rover is ‘Muscular, dynamic, modern and sophisticated’ in its terms. After the UK, India will be the first country to manufacture Range Rover and Range Rover Sport which will join the Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport, and the Jaguar F-Pace which are already locally manufactured at the JLR’s factory, and Tata Motors factory at Pune. That is great news, as the prices of both SUVs will go down by 18 percent and 22 percent, making them more affordable for Indian customers and also achieving the ‘Made in India’ revolution.

Land Rover has been assembling cars in India for a long time, now it is starting the production of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India. This will eventually boost sales as there will be a price drop in both models.

The detailed prices of the cars are not out yet but we have some figures as the 3.0- litre six-cylinder diesel engine producing 345hp and 700Nm has a price reduction of Rs 44 lakh which sums up to Rs 2.36 crore (ex-showroom), whereas the 3.0 Litre six-cylinder petrol engine which produces 392PS and 550Nm is reduced by Rs 56 lakh, now the price is Rs 2.60 crore(ex-showroom). Deliveries for the locally manufactured Range Rover will commence on May 24th, 2024.

The price of the locally assembled Range Rover Sport has been reduced by Rs 29 lakh and is now priced at Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom) for both the petrol and diesel 3.0 Litre SE Dynamic variants. The petrol variant puts 392PS and 550Nm while the diesel churns out 345PS and 700Nm. The 4.4-litre V8 SV edition will continue to be an import. The deliveries for the Range Rover Sport will commence on August 16th, 2024.

Around the coastal town of Alibaug, Maharashtra, Land Rover has also designed a Range Rover House which is a modern luxury experience displaying the first Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models to roll out of the Pune factory. These models will now be produced in India exclusively for the Indian market.

Land Rover has shared that a fully electric Range Rover will arrive at the end of 2024 and a fully electric Range Rover Sport by 2025.
