Nissan has finally revealed the name of its mid-size SUV challenger and it will be called the Nissan Tekton. The design of this new Nissan SUV is inspired to a large degree by the Nissan Patrol, which has been the flagship of Nissan SUVs for a long time. The upright front, with a bold grille split by two horizontal lines exude a sense of robustness. Considering the mid-size SUV segment is also referred to as the C-segment, Nissan has cleverly integrated many C-shaped design details throughout the exterior of the Tekton, starting from the LED DRLs, the connected LED tail lamps, as well as the brushed aluminium garnish on the frond fender vents. Apparently, these vents also hide an Easter Egg inspired by the Himalayas!

We had a solitary glimpse into the interior of the Tekton, and what we witnessed were clean, geometric lines throughout the dashboard, split by the same twin horizontal bar that has been seen running across the grille. Material choices are expected to be quite premium as well, as Nissan made it clear that the Tekton will occupy a position in the market above the Terrano. At this moment, Nissan has not revealed dimension or powertrain details, but we expect it to be just a bit longer than 4-metres and powered by the larger-capacity version of the HR engine family that does duty in the Nissan Magnite already.

Aimed squarely at the Hyundai Creta, the Nissan Tekton is a bold new chapter in the innings of Nissan India, and Nissan most certainly expects it to turn its fortunes around. We recently went to Japan and met Nissan’s top brass (we didn’t only drive the Nissan Z there) who revealed a few details about their India strategy, and there were teasers of this vehicle some time ago as well, at that time referred to as the Nissan C-CUV. This car will provide a real option for upwardly mobile car buyers of
