Nissan has unveiled the Aura NISMO RS Concept at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, showcasing its vision for an electrified performance hatch under the NISMO banner. While still a concept, the car signals Nissan’s intent to keep driving excitement alive in an increasingly electrified future.

Based on the Japan-spec Nissan Aura, the NISMO RS concept features aggressive motorsport-inspired styling with a wide stance, sharp aero elements, and performance-focused detailing. Under the hood, it uses Nissan’s e-Power setup, where a petrol engine acts as a generator while the electric motors drive the wheels, allowing for instant torque delivery. The addition of NISMO tuning hints at sharp handling, improved braking, and a more engaging driving experience than a standard sporty hatch.
However, the Aura NISMO RS is unlikely to reach India in its current form. Performance hatchbacks remain a niche segment in the Indian market, and Nissan’s local portfolio is currently focused on mass-market vehicles. Nissan plans to launch a slew of products this year, beginning with the Gravite this month.
