It slots below the recently launched R15 V4
Yamaha will not be discontinuing the previous iteration of the R15 but rather offering it in a new variant called the R15S V3.0. Priced at Rs 1.58 lakh, it is around 13,000 rupees more affordable than the newly launched R15 V4.
The R15S V3.0 gets a revised single-seat configuration. Apart from that it is virtually the same motorcycle as the now-discontinued R15 V3.0 and shares its bodywork, powertrain and underpinnings.
Interestingly the 155cc liquid-cooled motor delivers 18.6PS and 14.1Nm which is 0.2PS more and 0.1Nm less than the R15 V4's outputs. The six-speed gearbox gets a slip and assist clutch but misses out on the V4's electronic rider aids such as ride modes and traction control.
The R15S V3.0 is aimed at those wanting a more practical and affordable alternative to the R14 V4. In fact, Yamaha used to sell a more affordable R15S alongside the R15 V3.0.
